2023 Festival of the Trees, Ventura County in Simi Valley on November 15-18

Festival of the Trees, Ventura County is a community event that benefits cancer patients and their families with living expenses in Ventura County. View and bid on beautifully decorated trees and wreaths, shop handmade gifts in the Elf Emporium, and indulge on sweet treats in Frosty’s Sweet Shoppe.

Opening night is Wednesday, November 15th from 5:30-8:30pm. The evening will also include light refreshments and entertainment. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at festivalofthetrees.org or at the door.

The event continues Thursday, November 16th and Friday, November 17th from 4-8pm and Saturday, November 18th from 10am to 3pm. General admission these dates are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for ages 3-12 and free for 2 and under. Tickets available at the door.

2023 Reign of Terror Haunted House in Thousand Oaks September 29 to November 4

Janss Marketplace announces the 2023 dates and ticket sales launch for the 17-night Reign of Terror Haunted House, one of the top ranked immersive haunt attractions in the U.S.  Now entering its 24tb annual season, Reign of Terror opens on Friday,, September 24th at Janss Marketplace, located off the 101 Freeway, at the intersection of Hillcrest Drive and Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks.

The 2023 Reign of Terror contains 138 individual rooms and 10 terrifying, interconnected attractions in over 28,000 sq ft, of floor space. All attractions have been updated and enhanced for 2023.

Once again, this year will feature a “Lights OUT” special event for one night only, on Saturday, November 4th. Visitors to “Lights OUT” walk through all 138 rooms in total darkness, lit only by one small glow stick per group. It is highly recommended for visitors to come to Lights OUT as their bonus, end of season extra visit, only after visiting Reign of Terror’s regular production where all lighting and special effects run as usual. This will allow visitors of Lights OUT to truly appreciate and enjoy how different it is.

Proceeds from Reign of Terror benefit the Thousand Oaks Teen Center, Young Artists Ensemble programs and the Conejo Theatre for Everyone, which provides special needs youth the opportunity to perform on stage.

*Lights on special event on Oct 14th from 1-3pm only. $10 admission at the door. Cash only. Only white house lights will be on. No special effects active. No scare actors present and no dark show lighting.

The 2023 Haunted Housing Run is planned for Saturday, October 28th at San Buenaventura State Beach.

Haunted Housing Run is a Halloween-themed 5K run/walk in support of the Housing Authority of the City of San Buenaventura (HACSB) Scholarship Program. Each year HACSB awards scholarships to current residents of affordable housing communities owned and/or managed by HACSB who are currently enrolled at a four-year college/university, community college, or vocational school.

Free Clinic of Simi Valley Fredrick Michael Gibson 5K/10K & Half Marathon Walk/Run on Saturday, October 14, 2023

The Free Clinic of Simi Valley, in partnership with Simi Valley Hospital, presents the Fredrick Michael Gibson 5K/10K & Half Marathon Walk/Run for Depression Awareness and Kids’ 1K Fun Run at Rancho Simi Community Park, 1765 Royal Avenue, Simi Valley (near the tennis courts at Erringer and Royal). Event will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 7 am (Half Marathon), 8:15 am (5K/10K) and 9:30 am (Kids’ Run).

Funds raised from this event will benefit the Free Clinic of Simi Valley's Counseling Programs. Everyday, the Free Clinic is saving lives, improving the health of the community, and reducing health care costs for residents of Simi Valley. The Clinic does this through preventing visits to hospital emergency departments, which are costly and provide no continuity of care.

10th Annual Moorpark Mammoth Run 5K/10K on Sunday, October 8, 2023

The City of Moorpark and the Rotary Club of Moorpark present the Moorpark Mammoth Run 5K/10K and Family 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, October 8, 2023.

Run the ancient trails of the Southern Mammoths through the beautiful rolling hills of Moorpark. There's also a 1 mile fun run/walk planned. Everyone gets a T-shirt (1 per family in the fun/run walk), goody bag, free raffle ticket and participation ribbon. Winners get medals. Event starts at 8:30 a.m.

All proceeds will benefit local charities through the Moorpark Rotary Foundation.

21st Annual Margarita Mixoff & More in Thousand Oaks on Thursday, September 21, 2023

The 21st Annual Margarita Mixoff and More presented by Soroptimist International of the Conejo is planned for Thursday, September 21, 2023 at The Gardens at Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the event. Admission gets you tickets to taste margaritas and appetizers. Beer, wine and soft drinks included. Ages 21+ only.
