28th Annual California Lemon Festival in Goleta September 28-29, 2019

Be sure to stop by Girsh Park in Goleta on September 28-29, 2019 for the 28th Annual California Lemon Festival. FREE ADMISSION AND PARKING! Open 10am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday.

In addition to the sumptuous lemon food, fantastic family atmosphere, and cornucopia of entertainment and activities that have made this event the most anticipated in the Valley.

Also at the event on Saturday is the 14th Annual Goleta Fall Classic Car and Street Rod Show from 9am to 3pm.

As always, the Lemon Festival will feature the most extensive 'Safety Street' in the county, wildly-popular pie-eating contests, arts and crafts vendors, and more food than you can shake a lemon-scented stick at. A petting zoo and amusement park rides add to the many things that make the California Lemon Festival fun for the whole family.

Join in the campaign to support more birthdays at the 9th Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K fundraiser and pancake breakfast for Ventura County.  Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a celebration of survivorship an occasion to express hope and our shared determination to make this breast cancer's last century.

We Run the Promenade 5K in Westlake Village on Saturday, September 21st

The Promenade at Westlake presents the We Run the Promenade 5K at 9am on Saturday, September 21, 2019. This is a dog-friendly 5K, so bring your leashed pups! This will be an un-timed event run/walk event on sidewalks.

A portion of proceeds will benefit Paw Works, a non-profit rescue organization that partners with county and city shelters to give abandoned animals a second chance at life.

Enjoy post-run music, treats, pet adoption, giveaways and fun!

2019 Walk to Defeat ALS at Plaza Park in Ventura on Sunday, October 6, 2019

More than just a few-mile trek, the Walk to Defeat ALS®is an opportunity to bring hope to people living with ALS, to raise money for a cure, and to come together for something you care about. The Walk to Defeat ALS is The ALS Association’s biggest annual event, which raises funds that allow local chapters to sustain care services and support research for much of the next year.

Walk to take place on October 6, 2019 at Plaza Park in Ventura. Walk check-in is 9:30am, opening ceremony at 10:15am and walk starts at 11am. No registration fees.

2019 Out of the Darkness Community Walk to Fight Suicide on Saturday, September 14th

When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.

Thanks to Walkers and Donors like you, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.

There will be a 3k walk, bead ceremony, guest speakers and support/resources for those affected by Suicide. The walk is free, all walkers will be required to register online or in person 9/15 at 7:45am. The walk will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 9am to 12pm. Walkers may register at www.AFSP.org/VC.

Free Clinic of Simi Valley 5K/10K Run, 1K Kids Fun Run and Health Expo on Sat, October 12, 2019

The Free Clinic of Simi Valley, in partnership with Simi Valley Hospital, presents the Fredrick Michael Gibson 5K/10K Run for Depression Awareness and Tooth Fairy 1K Kids Fun Run and Community Health Expo at the Simi Valley Town Center on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 8:00 am – 12:00 noon.

Proceeds benefit the medical, counseling, legal and dental programs of the Free Clinic, including the pediatric dental program. The Free Clinic delivers services to thousands of people each year. The event serves as the Free Clinic’s most important fundraising event of the year and its success is critical to continued services.

Fredrick Michael Gibson 5K/10K Run for Depression Awareness - To bring awareness to the community at large about the devastating effects of depression. To shine the light on this mental illness and to be able to help people receive the care and medical treatment and counseling they might need. All proceeds benefit the Free Clinic of Simi Valley's counseling department. 

***Dogs are allowed (on a leash) and will also receive a special little "swag" to wear!! 

There are medals to the top three finishers in each age group for both the 5K and 10K. 

Stay after the run and enjoy the Health and Fitness Expo that will be going on from 8am to 12pm.

Jeepers Creepers Run 5K, 10K and Half Marathon in Camarillo on Sunday, October 13, 2019

The 2nd Annual Jeepers Creepers 5K, 10K and Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Pleasant Valley Fields (new location), 150 Westpark Court, Camarillo. 10K starts at 8am; 5K at 8:15am. Courses are on the mostly flat Camarillo bike path.

There will be prizes for best Halloween costume on race day for those inclined to dress up.
