144th Annual Ventura County Fair Planned for July 31 to August 11, 2019

The 144th Annual Ventura County Fair, "A Country Fair with Ocean Air" will take place July 31st to August 11th at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, 10 W. Harbor Boulevard in Ventura.

The fair features arts, crafts, food, exhibits, displays, demonstrations, farm animals, petting zoo, carnival rides, games and entertainment. More information at www.VenturaCountyFair.org.

General Admission Prices in 2019:  Adults (13 to 64) $12.00, Children and Seniors 65+ $9.00.

Opens at 11am every day; early birds on Tuesday, August 6th, allowed in at 10am. Carnival Midway opens at noon daily. Fair closes at 11pm daily. Carnival closes between 11pm and midnight.

Special Admission Days:

Wed 7/31: Dollar Day - entry a measly $1 until 3pm!

Thu 8/1: Feed the Need Day - Purchase an adult admission ticket and bring 5 cans of food for FOOD SHARE before 5PM and Get a FREE return ticket, valid Monday-Thursday, August 5-8.

Fri 8/2: Youth Day -12 and under FREE all day.

Tue 8/6: Seniors and Persons with Disabilities Day - Senior Citizens ages 65 and older and persons with disabilities will be admitted FREE all day.

Wed 8/7: $3 Before 3 Day - $3 admission until 3pm.

Thu 8/8: Military Appreciation Day - All military personnel holding a current, valid military i.d. will be admitted FREE all day.

Carnival Wristband Days: 8/1, 8/5, 8/6, 8/8 - buy wristband until 6pm for unlimited rides until 7pm.

2019 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular and Other Fun Events in Thousand Oaks

The 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular, coordinated by the Conejo Recreation and Park District, The City of Thousand Oaks and other local sponsors, takes place on the hill behind the Hillcrest Center of the Arts in Thousand Oaks. Fireworks start at 9 p.m., with a great view from the Janss Marketplace and The Oaks mall parking lots and surrounding areas!  Information: (805) 495-6471

On Friday, July 5 at the Ojai Valley Woman's Club, (441 Ojai Ave) we are excited to host the return of one of our favorite Scottish bands, the Old Blind Dogs. This will be their 4th visit over the past 20 years and they are Ojai favorites. Tickets are $25 for adults at Serendipity Toys in Ojai or send an email to shane@ojaiconcertseries.com and request a link to buy them through PayPal (there is a $1.50 convenience fee). During the warmer months concerts are at our home, the “Dancing Oak Ranch,” nestled in a quiet and beautiful canyon 3/4 of a mile off HWY 150 halfway between Carpinteria and Lake Casitas at 4585 Casitas Pass Road, Ventura. These shows are preceded by an optional potluck picnic, so if you can come early, bring a dish to share (B-Y-O-B) and join us for a picnic with friends and the musicians. You should also bring a low back deck chair, a blanket and a jacket plus bring a small flashlight to help find your vehicle after the show. There will usually be a bonfire and you can also bring friendly, well behaved dogs on a leash.

2019 City of Agoura Hills Summer Concerts in the Park - June through August

The City of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services and The Acorn Newspapers are pleased to announce the 2019 Summer Concerts in the Park series.

All concerts will begin at 6:00 p.m. and (except for July 21st) are held at Chumash Park, located at 5550 Medea Valley Dr. in Agoura Hills.  Concerts are free to the public. The concert on July 21st will take place at the Agoura High School PAEC, 28545 Driver Avenue.

Concert in the Park at Oak Canyon Community Park in Oak Park on July 13, 2019 - Prince Tribute

Join in on an evening of free entertainment and listen to a Prince Tribute band on July 13, 2019 at Oak Canyon Community Park, 5600 Hollytree Drive, Oak Park at 6:30pm.

Event includes old fashioned games with the family such as Hippity Hop, tug-a-war, hool-a-hoop, great food vendors and more. A free shuttle is provided at the entrance to the park and from Oak Park High School.
