2019 Farmers' Market Pumpkin Fun Day at Channel Islands Harbor on Sunday, October 27th

Channel Islands Harbor will hosts its Annual Pumpkin Fun Day on Sunday, October 27. 2019. The community is invited to join in the fun at the Channel Islands Harbor Farmers’ Market located in the north parking lot adjacent to Marine Emporium Landing, 3350 S. Harbor Blvd. Event hours 10am to 2pm.

Various events will be taking place all day, including a decorating pop-up shop where children can make Halloween hats, trick-or-treating throughout the Farmers’ Market, and a costume parade and costume contest, with special prizes given to the winners. Other activities include face painting, live music and a bounce house. The costume parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the costume contest will start at noon.

Channel Islands Harbor serves as a center of recreation, boating, shopping and water sports activities. The harbor is home to three yacht clubs and nine full-service marinas that provide berths for 2,150 boats. It also hosts the Channel Islands Maritime Museum. 2019 Channel Islands Harbor Fireworks by the Sea and Other 4th of July Activities

Channel Islands Harbor celebrates the 4th of July with a full day of family activities. The Harbor will host a variety of activities throughout the day, ending with the annual Fireworks by the Sea starting at 9 p.m., which can be viewed from anywhere in the Harbor.

Festivities begin with the 18th Annual Channel Islands Harbor 10K Race & 5K Fun Run/Walk along Sunset Lane, Hollywood Beach. Registration and check-in are at 7 a.m., followed by the 10K & 5K races starting together at 8 a.m. 

Children’s Parade: After the race, join Harbor residents and visitors for the 4th of July Children’s Parade. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. at Albacore Way, travels north up Harbor Blvd. and ends at Cabezone Circle, home to Marine Emporium Landing.

After the race, fun for the whole family begins at Marine Emporium Landing. There will be activities between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., including a crafters’ market, inflatable fun zone, a rock climbing wall and food booths.

At 6 p.m., more than 50 patriotic themed electric boats will cruise around the Harbor in the 4th Annual 4th of July Electric Boat Parade. The parade is being put on by Central Coast Electric Boats and the Channel Islands Yacht Club.

2019 Free Concerts by the Sea at Channel Islands Harbor in July and August


Concerts by the Sea is a free concert series at Peninsula Park, 3401 Peninsula Road (next to the Hampton Inn). Oxnard on Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Musical genres to include Rock, R&B, Jazz, Blues and Swing.

Each performance in the free summer concert series will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Peninsula Park, 3401 Peninsula Rd, Oxnard at the Channel Islands Harbor, next to the Hampton Inn. Free parking is available at the park and along the street. Visitors can enjoy a wide array of musical styles, including jazz, rock, folk, pop, country and blues.

18th Annual Channel Islands Harbor 4th of July 5K/10K in Oxnard


The 18th Annual Channel Islands Harbor 4th of July 5K & 10K benefits the Channel Islands Harbor Foundation. This classic run takes place in the Channel Islands Harbor and Oxnard Shores beach community and is flat and fast. Starting line is on west side of Channel Islands Harbor, 3950 Bluefin Circle, Oxnard.

3rd Annual From Tree to the Sea Father's Day Wooden Boat Show and Classic Cars at Channel Islands Harbor on June 16, 2019

The Channel Islands Maritime Museum is excited to host the 3rd Annual From Tree to the Sea: Father’s Day Wooden Boat Show and Classic Cars – an event of the most enjoyable and rustic variety! It will feature a series of stunning and classic wooden boats on display for everyone to enjoy from noon to 4 p.m. on Father’s Day Sunday, June 16, 2019. Participate in engaging maritime activities such as toy boat races, family friendly activities and even a selection of classic cars will be here to view – what a great way to spend the day!

Celebration of the Whales Festival at Channel Islands Harbor on Sunday, March 24, 2019


Visitors who attend the 22nd Annual Celebration of the Whales Festival at the Channel Islands Harbor are going to be in for a variety of surprises.

This year’s event will feature new family-friendly activities, chalk art, and prize drawings that include whale watching excursions for the entire family.

The event is being held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2019. Activities will be held at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum, the Channel Islands Harbor Farmers Market, and a “Gray Whale Migration Trail” along the marina path that connects the two activity centers.

Gray Whale Migration Trail

Children and adults can both enjoy the migration trail, which will be lined with educational activities and more than 20 pieces of sidewalk chalk art.

To participate in the migration trail, families can pick up a special whale hat, passport, and map that helps navigate the route. Hats, passports, and the map can be picked up at designated booths at the Farmers Market or Maritime Museum.

Stops along the trail include “Whale of a Selfie,” “Become a Whale Detective,” “Become a Whale Explorer,” and “Become a Whale Designer.” If participants complete the four stops on the trail, they will be eligible to win whale watching tickets (courtesy of Island Packers and Channel Islands Whale Watching) along with a variety of other prizes.

Channel Islands Maritime Museum

The Maritime Museum will host the Celebration of the Whales. At the Museum, there will be interactive and educational booths including a touch tank, family-friendly activities including arts and crafts, a bounce house, live entertainment, contests, prizes and food trucks. Admission to the museum will be free and inside visitors can enjoy short documentaries, knot tying demonstrations and more.

Channel Islands Farmers Market

The Farmers Market will feature an arts and crafts market, children’s activities, whale facts, and educational booths.

The Celebration of Whales Festival is a collaborative event among Harbor lessees, businesses, and the Ventura County Harbor Department that celebrates the migration of the Pacific Gray Whale.

Electric Car Show at Channel Island Harbor's Harbor View Park on Sunday, September 9, 2018


The Channel Islands Harbor will host the 3rd Annual Electric Car Show from 9:30 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Harbor View Park (also referred to as West Channel Park) near Marine Emporium Landing.

If you are interested in electric vehicles and would like to learn more, plan to visit and check out the variety of makes and models that will be on display. Talk to electric vehicle owners and learn from their experiences. Learn about very low cost commuting that also lowers air pollution.

If you are an electric vehicle owner – register and bring your car to the event. Share your real life experience about driving an electric vehicle with others in your community and network with other electric vehicle drivers and educate the public about the advantages of electric vehicle use and ownership. This is an opportunity for us to come together to make connections and influence change.

This National Drive Electric Week event is presented by Plug In America, the Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association. Local sponsors include the Los Padres Chapter Sierra Club and the Sustainability Council of Ventura County. On the ground support and organization is being provided by the EV Advocates of Ventura County.
