41st Annual Ventura Harbor Holiday Parade of Lights on December 15-16

Ventura Harbor celebrates the season with its 41st Annual Holiday Parade of Lights on Friday, December 15th and Saturday, December 17th starting at 6:30 pm. This year's parade will celebrate 100 years of our national parks.

The two-day fun filled event includes a carnival, seaside shopping and dining followed by the lighted boat parade at 6:30 pm. Parking and admission are free.

NOTE: THE FIREWORKS PREVIOUSLY PLANNED FOR THIS EVENT HAVE BEEN CANCELLED BUT THE REST OF THE EVENT IS GOOD TO GO AS OF NOON 12/14.

On Saturday, the 16th stop by early for Winter Wonderland and Holiday Marketplace from 1-5 pm, including faux snowfall every 15 minutes, visits with Mr & Mrs Claus, live reindeer, kids' activities, holiday carnival, carolers and more.

Ventura County's 32nd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration in Oxnard on January 15, 2018

The 2018 Ventura County Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration is Monday, January 16th and will start at 8 a.m. with a gathering at Plaza Park, 500 South C Street in Downtown Oxnard, followed by a "Freedom March" to the Oxnard Performing Arts Center (OPAC), 800 Hobson Way.

Then at the OPAC is the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Observance program that starts at 9am, featuring Ron Hasson, President of the Beverly Hills/Hollywood NAACP as keynote speaker. Refreshments will be served after the program. Admission $7 online or at the door.

6th Annual Ojai Half Marathon, 5K and 10K on Sunday, April 29, 2018

The 6th Annual Ojai Half Marathon, 5K and 10K is planned for Sunday, April 29, 2018. This is a one loop course along the Ojai bike trail and Lake Casitas.  A rolling hills course that has something for everyone.  Half marathon starts at 8 a.m. at Mira Monte Middle School at 1216 Loma Drive. 35th Annual California Strawberry Festival in Oxnard Set For Weekend of May 19-20, 2018

The 35th Anniversary California Strawberry Festival will be held at Strawberry Meadows of College Park, 3250 South Rose Avenue, Oxnard, on Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20, 2018.

Festivalgoers can taste strawberry treats from dozens of food and drink vendors and take part in strawberry pie eating contests, strawberry relays, strawberry tart tosses and other free contests. An estimated 1.5 million strawberries will be consumed at the festival. The two days also feature a vendor marketplace, live music on two outdoor stages, carnival, cooking demonstrations and kids' rides and entertainment at their own Strawberryland. Since its inception, the California Strawberry Festival has donated over $4.5 million to southern California charitable organizations. Free shuttle service to the festival is available ($10 to park onsite).

General admission is $12, seniors 62+ are $8 and children ages 5-12 are $5. Kids 4 and under are free. Active military and dependents with ID are $8.

10th Annual Chanukah Festival in Moorpark on Sunday, December 17, 2017

Chabad of Moorpark Jewish Center invites the entire community to celebrate the Festival of Lights at the 10th annual Public Menorah Kindling Ceremony. The grand Chanukah celebration will take place on Sunday, December 17th at 4:30 PM in the Vons Shopping Center, 4225A Tierra Rejada Road.

Public dignitaries Including Mayor Parvin, the chief of police and local congressmen will attend the ceremony and will assist in kindling the giant UNITY Menorah.

Prior to the kindling, the program will feature a world renowned and award winning comedian and illusionist, Robert Baxt. There will be crafts and activities, hot latkes and donuts, music, dancing, and more! Menorahs and candles will also be available at the event for those who need.

Chanukah is the eight-day Jewish "Festival of Lights," this year beginning on the evening of December 12 and culminating on December 20.  Each evening at sunset an additional candle is lit to commemorate the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem some 2000 years ago.  

Join us in a public display of unity at this exciting Menorah Lighting Ceremony.

We will also be having a CHANUKAH BOWLING EVENT on Thursday, December 14, from 5:00-6:30 pm at Harley's Simi Bowl at 480 E. Los Angeles Ave. We will be lighting a Bowling pin Menorah, enjoying latkes and jelly doughnuts, as well as a fun bowling night! The cost is only $10.00 per person and includes shoes.
