Annual Huck Finn Fishin' Derby at Rancho Simi Community Park on Saturday, May 3, 2025

The Annual Huck Finn Fishin’ Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Rancho Simi Community Park, 1765 Royal Avenue, Simi Valley from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.. Kids ages 15 and under will be hooked on fishing fun while scanning the water for the biggest and best fish to catch. The derby will be held along the banks of the two-and-one-half acre lake at Rancho Simi Community Park. Parents are advised to bring their children to the lake as early as possible to ensure a great spot. For safety reasons, no spinners/lures allowed. The lagoon will be stocked with over 1,500 pounds of fish before the event.

2025 Arbor/Earth Day Celebration at the Thousand Oaks Community Center on Saturday, April 19th

The City of Thousand Oaks’ annual Arbor Earth Day Celebration returns to Thousand Oaks Community Center Park to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day in one combined event on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 10am to 2pm. This year’s event will include an electric vehicle display area where the public can see and ask questions about various EV models, educational workshops on drip irrigation installation, caring for landscaping in drought, water-wise ground covers, as well as a bicycle safety course & helmet giveaway, bicycle donation/collection, kids activities & bounce house, compost and plant giveaways, raffles, live music, and more.

The event will include:

Chinese Cultural Day at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Park on Saturday, April 26, 2025

The 7th Chinese Cultural Day at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Park will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 11am-3pm.

The Conejo Chinese Cultural Association (CCCA), a non-profit organization, is hosting Chinese Cultural Day in celebrating the Moon Festival. The celebration will showcase traditional Chinese music, dance performances, and interactive cultural exhibits, as well as games, food and raffles. Admission is free.

Celebration of the Whales Festival at Channel Islands Harbor on Sunday, April 13, 2025

The 26th Annual Celebration of the Whales Festival is planned for Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 11am to 3pm at the Channel Islands Harbor, 3350 Harbor Blvd, Oxnard.

This year’s event will feature a community “paint a whale” mural project, chalk art, shopping, free kayaking and standup paddleboarding, a children’s fun zone, and more.

Activities will be held at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum, the Channel Islands Harbor Farmers Market and a “Gray Whale Migration Trail” that runs through Harbor View Park that connects the two activity centers.

The Conejo Recreation & Park District’s Kids' Swap Meet is back on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 8:00am to 12:00 noon at the Thousand Oaks Community Center, 2525 N. Moorpark Rd. Thousand Oaks.

Kids can earn some money and become young entrepreneurs by selling toys, supplies and equipment they no longer need or use, during this family swap meet featuring local families as the vendors. Parents and kids can reserve an 8 x 8 spot to sell children's old toys, clothes, games, and furniture.

Easter Sunrise Service at Pierce Brothers Westlake Village on Sunday, April 20, 2025

Easter sunrise services are offered to the general public by Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial Park on April 20, 2025 beginning at 6:00 a.m. The service takes place in the parking lot of the main building at 5600 Lindero Canyon Road in Westlake Village. This is a nondenominational service and is sponsored by the Conejo Valley Interfaith Association.

There will be live music, light refreshments, and a beautiful dove release.
