52nd Annual Easter Sunrise Service at Pierce Brothers Westlake Village on Sunday, April 21, 2019

Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial Park is proud to host its 52nd annual Easter Sunrise Service April 21 beginning at 6:00 a.m. The service takes place in the parking lot of the main building, 5600 Lindero Canyon Road in Westlake Village. This nondenominational service will focus on the message, “No, never. Yes, always.” The service is sponsored by the Conejo Valley Interfaith Association.

“Perhaps this year more than most our Easter Sunrise Service provides an important way to join as a united community, give thanks, and focus on the hope that comes with Easter,” said Tamara Eacker, general manager, Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial Park. “This year’s message reminds us that there is always a way we can say yes to our neighbors, friends, and community. We hope you will join us for this meaningful event.”

Clergy representing from churches throughout the community will concelebrate the service. Participants include The Reverend Dr. Gary Alan Dickey, Emeritus, United Methodist Church of Westlake Village; The Reverend Craig Beeker, New Hope Lutheran Church of Agoura; The Reverend John Burnett, Emeritus, Westminster Presbyterian Church of Westlake Village; The Reverend Rachel Tabutol of United Methodist Church of Westlake Village, and The Reverend Joshua Han, Westlake Village Korean Church. Music will be provided by keyboardist Karleen Van Dyke, United Methodist Church of Westlake Village and soloist Karenjo Crump, United Methodist Church of Westlake Village. A release of white doves concludes the service.

Glowing luminaries will light the hillside above the service in a cross symbolizing the new life of the resurrection. Clergy representing multiple faiths from throughout the community will celebrate the service. Gentle sheep will graze on the hillside much like they might have on the first Easter morning. As the Easter candles are lit, Dr. Gary Alan Dickey will play “Amazing Grace” on his bagpipes. During the service, scripture readings, music, and prayers will inspire all who attend this moving, non-denominational service. The Reverend Rachel Tabutol will begin the service with the Easter Proclamation and The Reverend Joshua Han will offer the Easter Blessing. The Reverends Craig Beeker and John Burnett will lead the congregation in prayer. Dr. Dickey will present the Easter Message, “Stones That Easter Rolls Away.” An offering for the Lutheran Social Services Agency of Thousand Oaks will be collected. A Resurrection White Dove release will conclude the service.
