51st Annual Easter Sunrise Service at Pierce Brothers Westlake Village on Sunday, April 1, 2018

Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial Park is proud to host its 51st annual Easter Sunrise Service April 1 beginning at 6:00 a.m. at 5600 Lindero Canyon Road in Westlake Village, just north of the 101 Freeway. This joyful, nondenominational service provides an exceptional way to celebrate this holy day with family and friends. The service is sponsored by the Conejo Valley Interfaith Association.

“We are delighted to welcome these esteemed clergy to Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks to celebrate our Easter Memorial service. Their dedication to our community is remarkable,” said Tamara Eacker, general manager, Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial Park. “And, we look forward to welcoming multiple generations of families again this year to our service. We are honored that so many choose to start their day at this meaningful celebration with their neighbors and friends, and with all of us.”

Glowing luminaries will light the hillside above the service in a cross symbolizing the new life of the resurrection. Clergy representing multiple faiths from throughout the community will celebrate the service. Gentle sheep will graze on the hillside much like they might have on the first Easter morning. As the Easter candles are lit, Dr. Gary Alan Dickey will play “Amazing Grace” on his bagpipes. During the service, scripture readings, music, and prayers will inspire all who attend this moving, non-denominational service. The Reverend Rachel Tabutol will begin the service with the Easter Proclamation and The Reverend Joshua Han will offer the Easter Blessing. The Reverends Craig Beeker and John Burnett will lead the congregation in prayer. Dr. Dickey will present the Easter Message, “Stones That Easter Rolls Away.” An offering for the Lutheran Social Services Agency of Thousand Oaks will be collected. A Resurrection White Dove release will conclude the service.

Clergy participating in the service includes The Reverend Dr. Gary Alan Dickey (retired), United Methodist Church of Westlake Village; The Rev. Craig Beeker, New Hope Lutheran Church of Agoura; The Rev. John Burnett, Emeritus, Westminster Presbyterian Church of Westlake Village; The Reverend Rachel Tabutol of United Methodist Church of Westlake Village, and Reverend Joshua Han, Westlake Village Korean Church. Music will be provided by keyboardist Karleen Van Dyke, United Methodist Church of Westlake Village and  soloist Karenjo Crump, United Methodist Church of Westlake Village.

The Easter Sunrise Service is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served following the celebration. For more information and directions, call Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park at (818) 889-0902.
