City of Thousand Oaks Annual Public Works Week Open House on May 21-22, 2019

Public Works Week is an open house event to educate the Conejo Valley and surrounding cities’ youth and adults on how Public Works provides service to the community. The two-day event will include demonstrations on tree maintenance, graffiti removal, street repair, water conservation, recycling, bicycle safety, water operations, and wastewater collection. Highlights include a bus ride through the car wash in a Compressed Natural Gas bus and demonstrations of the landscape aerial lift.

The two-day open house will be held on May 21-22, 2019, at the Municipal Service Center, located at 1993 Rancho Conejo Boulevard. Individual and group tours may be scheduled between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day. To reserve a tour, visit www.toaks.org/pww.

Touch-A-Truck Event Planned at Malibu Public Library on Saturday, January 26. 2019

The City of Malibu, Parks & Recreation Department and the Malibu Library proudly present Touch-A-Truck on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10am to noon at the Malibu City Hall, 23825 Stuart Ranch Road. A special event where children can see, touch, explore and honk the horns of their favorite trucks and emergency vehicles serving the Malibu community. All ages welcome! Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis in Van Nuys on Sunday, December 2, 2018

The Jingle Bell Run/Walk for arthritis is a 5K holiday themed event. Tie jingle bells to your shoes and come out on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Woodley Park, 6350 Woodley Avenue, Van Nuys (previously planned at Paramount Ranch, which was devastated by the Woolsey Fire).

On site registration opens at 8:00am and the run/walk begins at 9:30am. After the run/walk join us in the festival zone to meet our honorees and enjoy holiday entertainment, food, fun and a costume contest.

26th Annual "No Room at the Inn" Nativity Display in Camarillo November 30 to December 2, 2018

The No Room at the Inn Board announced on September 29, 2019 via the organization’s Facebook page that the event has been cancelled in 2019 and close the non-profit organization.

No Room at the Inn is a display of over 600 nativity sets from private collections, with proceeds helping our Ventura County homeless. The 2018 display will be hosted by United Methodist Church, 291 Anacapa Drive, Camarillo.

The Grand Opening Gala is Friday evening, November 30th, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be light appetizers and entertainment. A donation of $30 in advance by 11/26 or $35 at the door is requested.

The display continues December 1st from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and December 2nd from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The donation for viewing the exhibit Saturday and Sunday is $5 for adults and $1 for children. Those attending will view the amazing variety of ways that first Christmas was depicted.

All proceeds benefit the homeless shelters of Ventura County. Over $480,000 to date has been donated.

Join us the last Saturday of the month from 2:00 - 3:30 pm and explore a different aspect of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, or Mathematics! For ages 5- 12. Children under age 9 must attend with a person 12 years of age or older. 

September – Learn about the structural differences between salt and sugar under a microscope and how that affects texture and taste!

October – Learn about the science behind tendons, muscles, and ligaments by making robotic hands!

November – Learn about the science behind money by looking at bills under a microscope.

December - Learn about the force and motion by painting with magnets and gravity!
