Long-Time Newbury Park Resident John Mulhall's Debut Novel "Geddy's Moon"

Long-time Newbury Park resident John Mulhall’s debut novel is called Geddy's Moon.

"Tyler is an amnesiac, drifting aimlessly across the country, struggling to regain his lost memories. When he arrives in Geddy’s Moon, a sleepy town in the middle of the Kansas wheat fields, fragments of his past begin to resurface. But as he establishes new relationships in town, and spends time with the local librarian and her son, he finds himself tormented by nightmares that grow more unsettling each night. What horrific events took place before Tyler arrived in Geddy’s Moon? And could he have brought a terrifying – and possibly supernatural – danger along with him? As the pieces of his fractured memory begin to fall into place, he fears that it may already be too late to keep himself, and those he’s begun to care about, safe from a vicious evil."

In addition to being an award-winning video and event producer, John is also the author of several short stories, plays and a collection of poetry. He began developing Geddy’s Moon more than twenty years ago at age nineteen. In fact, Mulhall indicated that "Geddy's Moon" is actually set in a fictional version of Newbury Park circa 1983.

There will be a Geddy's Moon reading and book signing at the E.P. Foster Library in Ventura at 7pm on October 11th. Your chance to meet the author and learn a little more about his debut horror novel! Visit www.johnmulhall.com to learn more.

Golden Dragon Chinese Cuisine in Thousand Oaks

The husband/wife team at Golden Dragon Thousand Oaks

Thousand Oaks resident Scott Leese and his kids recently visited the newly opened Golden Dragon Chinese Cuisine at 2416 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Thousand Oaks

Husband and wife team Young and Ng decided to open this restaurant next to Harold's House of Omelettes and across the street from Toyota of Thousand Oaks in this clean, well lighted location.

Scott and family were excited with the large portions and notably fresh ingredients with their lunch orders of Cashew Chicken, Beef and Broccoli and Sweet and Sour Chicken. He also noted that the cheese wontons were "amazing" and a must order! Lunch specials were reasonably priced in the $6.95 to $7.95 range. Their phone number is 805.379.8858.

Dayne's Chicago Beef and Dawgs Looks to Open in Thousand Oaks This Spring

In other news, Garage Dogs, which opened down the street on Thousand Oaks Boulevard on April 23, 2012, recently closed, though a sign on their door indicates they will be seeking a new location. That's too bad as I know several friends frequented Garage Dogs quite often.

Update 7/14/13: Dayne's is still working on a grand opening date. Follow www.facebook.com/DaynesChicagoBeef for updates.

Updated 3/25 (original post 3/7): Dayne's Chicago Beef and Dawgs indicates its grand opening will take place on Memorial Day weekend on its Facebook page.

Thousand Oaks Boulevard, adjacent to my wife's favorite Chocolatine, in the space previously occupied by Channel Islands Scuba (which for some time now has been located down the street at 3200 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard).

Dayne's website at www.dayneschicagobeef.com looks to be work in progress at this point but based on what's in there at this point it looks like they will be serving up "authentic Italian beef sandwiches." Stay tuned...
