Sutter’s Mill at 3885 Cochran St in Simi Valley has permanently closed. The eatery originally opened in 1958 in the San Fernando Valley. The Simi Valley location opened in 2007, specializing in steaks and seafood. www.sutters4dining.com
Tomodachi Sushi in Newbury Park is under new ownership and is now called Mahina Sushi, located at 771 Wendy Drive (Conejo Gateway Plaza). Mahina, which means moon, 'serves "fresh fish, over thirty signature rolls, and a little bit of aloha on every plate."

The Marcello Ristorante sign is gone and the windows are covered at 140 W. Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks. The new eatery assigned the on-site beer and wine permit is Capri Trattoria and Pizzeria. State licensing records list Nando Silvestri as a member and managing member of the permit holder, Tutto Bene Restaurant Group, LLC. Silvestri also owns Spumoni Pizza Restaurant in Santa Monica.

Yes, it’s August and realized we never mentioned that Shooby’s opened at 2024 Ventura Blvd in Old Town Camarillo in late April in the Freda’s Pizza and Woodfired Kitchen that announced its closure, after six years in Camarillo, on April 10th.
Shooby’s specialized in smashburgers made with Certified Angus beef, hand-cut fries, premium Mary’s Chicken, house-made pickles and sauces, and hand-spun Haagen-Dazs milkshakes. Learn more at www.shoobys.com.

Cafe Rio at 595 N. Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks will permanently close at the end of business this Sunday, August 23, according to confirmation from the company's corporate office.
The fast-casual Mexican restaurant opened in 2020 in the former Baja Fresh space. Cafe Rio is known for its made-from-scratch tortillas, burritos, salads, tacos, and other Mexican-inspired fare.
The Thousand Oaks location is no longer accepting catering orders beyond August 23, however, future ordering remains available for other Cafe Rio locations, such as the one in Valencia. www.caferio.com
Crumbl Cookies at The Shoppes at Westlake Village has closed its doors. It opened May 12, 2022. They are directing customers to the Newbury Park location next to Islands at 935 Broadbeck Drive. Other nearby locations are in Oxnard, Ventura, and at The Commons at Calabasas. crumblcookies.com
Saddened to get word earlier this week that Marmalade Cafe at The Commons at Calabasas will serve its last meal on Sunday, August 2nd. The popular eatery has operated at The Commons since 1998.

Novo Cafe at The Shoppes at Westlake Village closed its doors on June 29th. They opened this location in June 2019. Their original Burbank/Toluca Lake location remains open.
