Amelia S once again have the heads up via the Conejo Valley Guide Facebook Page that a new eatery is coming to the North Ranch Mall at 3845 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Westlake Village at the former home of Dejaun Jewelers.

The place is called KreAsian Kitchen and although its website at www.KreAsiankitchen.com is not currently up and running (as of 9/15/16), we were able to glean a little more about this new place with the tagline "Making the World Better, One Stomach at a Time" from a craigslist job posting: "KreAsian Kitchen is now rolling and bowling in Westlake Village. We are a Create Your Own Asian Kitchen were diners can build their own Rolls, Bowls, and Sushi Burritos. Fast Casual dining setting."

Mali Cuisine Fro-Yo and Fresh Asian Food Opens at Lincoln Oaks Village in Thousand Oaks

UPDATE: Mali Cuisine is now closed (sometime in 2021).

Mali Cuisine Fro-Yo and Fresh Asian Food is open at Lincoln Oaks Village strip mall at 140 W. Hillcrest Drive, #111 in Thousand Oaks, next to Establos Meat Market.  Mali opened today for its self-serve frozen yogurt and I'm told that on October 14th will start serving up Southeast Asia authentic recipes. 

Mali's menu will include charbroiled rice dishes, sandwiches, pan fried noodles, noodle soups and salads. Mint leaf chicken, Korean BBQ ribs, orange chicken, curry chicken, grilled salmon, Pad Thai, Asian Spicy Spaghetti Noodle, ramen noodle soup and other tasty looking items will be on its menu, mostly in the $8 to $10 range.

Cask Alehouse Opening Soon in Ventura

Update: Cask Alehouse opened in early December.

The former owner/manager of Anacapa Brewing Company is in process of opening Cask Alehouse at 5952 Telegraph Road in Ventura (at Victoria). Cask will feature California craft beers and wines, along with handcrafted sandwiches, salads and pizzas. Build-out continues. Chipotle Coming Soon to The Summit at Calabasas

And yet another update: This Chipotle closed in the latter part of 2018.

Chipotle will soon be opening a location at The Summit at Calabasas, 26791 Agoura Road, Suite D1, in the former, short-lived home of Village Fish Market & Restaurant, which closed its doors three years ago after less than a year in business.

Speaking of donuts, Dunkin Donuts is right there on Krispy Kreme's heels, with locations in the works in Simi Valley and Westlake Village.

Update 8/23/16: Ooohhh, it is getting closer as you can see from the image below. They are working away on the store, which from what I was told, they now are anticipating/hoping to open in the next 3 or 4 weeks. But we shall see.  Location is west of the McDonald's on Riverpark Blvd at E. Vineyard in Oxnard.

The WSS is now open.

Update 8/4/16: Apparently will be a Fall opening according to a comment posted here last month from the Krispy Kreme corporate office. Possibly Oct/Nov time frame.

Update 6/26/16: Still no specific opening date but as you can see from the photo, the structure has been built but is still in process. And Krispy Kreme is looking to hire managers.

Original Post 11/10/15: Good news for donut fans in the vicinity of The Collection at RiverPark!  Santa Monica based Dynamic Development Company recently announced it acquired land at 210-220 Riverpark Boulevard in Oxnard and is planning to develop a 17,000 sq ft two tenant shopping center. The center will feature a 14,730 sq ft WSS (Warehouse Shoe Sale) Footwear store and a 2,700 sq ft Krispy Kreme.

Yes, you heard it right. A new Krispy Kreme donut shop in Oxnard, roughly 8 years after closing its previous location on Rose Avenue.

They anticipate the project will be completed sometime in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (originally...it looks like it will now be sometime in Q3).

Alison F. tipped us off on this on June 3rd via the CVG Facebook Page but I wanted to see it myself to believe it that Galletto Bar & Grill, a Westlake Village mainstay for 20 years in the Westlake Plaza at 982 Westlake Boulevard, is closing its doors soon (specific date TBA). The note on the front window points out the owners' other location is Farfalla at The Promenade at Westlake.

That said, a new place is already lined up for this location. Finney's Crafthouse & Kitchen is opening this fall. Their Instagram page indicates they will have 30 craft beers on tap, craft cocktails, gourmet burgers, flatbread pizzas, specialty salads and delicious appetizers.

Visit their site at www.finneyscrafthouse.com for updates. Based on the countdown clock on their site, it appears they plan to open in mid-August. But we shall see.

Cagami Ramen Opened in Late July in Former Home of Sushi Hamayu in Camarillo

The owners of Sushi Hamayu in Camarillo retired in June and in late July, a new eatery opened in its place at 1855 E. Daily Drive, Suite B (sandwiched, so to speak, between Habit Burger and Urbane Cafe), Camarillo, Cagami Ramen. 

It sounds absolutely delicious, so I do plan to stop by soon. Their menu, seen on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cagamiramen, includes all sorts of great stuff: ramen noodles and soup, rice bowls with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc. and fish dishes. Oooh, and mochi ice cream for dessert. I WILL be checking this place out. Soon.

Blaze Pizza Coming Soon to The Esplanade in Oxnard

Blaze Pizza is opening soon at The Esplanade, 301 W. Esplanade Drive in Oxnard. This will mark the first Ventura County location of this "build it yourself" pizza chain.  Their menus includes signature and build-your-own pizzas, salads and for dessert, s'more pie.

Launched by a co-founder of the Wetzel's Pretzels chain in 2012, Blaze Pizza now has 150 locations and continues to grow rapidly.

This concept is certainly been seen here in Ventura County, with Pieology, PizzaRev, MOD Pizza, Urban Pizza and Pitfire Pizza already in the game.
