Up until very recently this was a Haagen Dazs scoop shop at The Oaks.
Might be time to sell short sugar futures, as Cinnabon and Haagen Dazs at The Oaks shopping mall in Thousand Oaks recently closed their doors.
Thanks for the heads up from Amelia S (Haagen Dazs) and Jessica J (Cinnabon).
And this is the former Cinnabon, next to JCPenney and and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.
Famous Dave’s opened its 3rd Ventura County location at The Collection at RiverPark on December 18, 2013.
More recently, last month, Famous Dave’s closed it sole remaining Ventura County location - this very Oxnard location. It operated at The Collection for approximately five years.
The Simi Valley location closed in January 2016. The Thousand Oaks location (now home to Blaze Pizza and The Habit Burger), closed in January 2015.
That means, no more Famous Dave’s here in Ventura County. Perhaps not a big surprise, given its 3 out of 5 star rating in Yelp. That’s not particularly easy to do.
If you still have a hankering for Famous Dave’s BBQ, not to worry. It is available just 85 miles away from the Conejo Valley in Irvine. Or just 77 miles away in Rancho Cucamonga. Or if you’d prefer, there’s a Bakersfield location, which is about two hours away. www.famousdaves.com
Several local residents have reported that the Rubio’s in Newbury Park announced to its employees today that today, Sunday, January 27, 2019 it will be closing its doors. Very sad news. Rubio’s locations nearest to the Conejo Valley are in Oxnard, Ventura and Northridge.
The VC Star Tweeted today was the last day the Marie Callender’s at 1295 Victoria Avenue in Ventura after operating for 40 years.
Yikes! That leaves one remaining Ventura County Marie Callender’s - in Camarillo at 185 E. Daily Drive. Or you can drive to Northridge or Sherman Oaks to get your lemon meringue pie fix. www.mariecallenders.com
UPDATE: Rave Organics is permanently closed.
Rave Organics in the Thousand Oaks Marketplace at 520 N. Ventu Park Road, Suite 140, Newbury Park is currently closed, they indicate temporarily, to assess flooding damage. Rave opened early this year.

Pacific by NoRu just opened at the recently vacated former home of Coconut Crab at 394 East Main Street, Suite B in Ventura.
Founders of Pacific by NoRu are Ren Weigang (born and raised in Hawaii) and James Norton (born and raised in Ventura). Their new eatery features coastal-inspired, organic foods. Aroha New Zealand Cuisine & Bar in Westlake Village announced on November 17, 2018 that, due to the impact of the Woolsey Fire, it would not be re-opening it doors. It originally opened at 30990 Russell Ranch Road in September 2014.
However, on its website at www.aroharestaurant.com, Gwith and Justine Thomas announced that Aroha Catering will be coming soon.
Hugo’s Restaurant Agoura Hills has closed its doors. Here’s the announcement on their Facebook page today:
After more than 7 years in Agoura Hills, we have served our last meal at that location. The calamity of the ongoing, record-setting wildfires has made our closing the restaurant necessary. We are so grateful to our co-workers, family & friends who have made the experience of running this restaurant unforgettable.
While closing is sad, we still have two locations in Studio City and West Hollywood to enjoy our from-scratch meals.
To everyone who had become part of the Hugo’s family in Agoura Hills - -we thank you for sharing your hearts with us. We look forward to serving you again soon!
We’re sorry to see Hugo’s go. Hugo’s opened on September 26, 2011 in the Whizin Market Square.
