The Grill on the Alley at The Promenade at Westlake in Thousand Oaks has confirmed that it will be closing its doors at close of business on Saturday, October 29th. The Grill has served the Conejo Valley since 2008. Its Beverly Hills location remains open. www.thegrillonthealley.com Sad to hear about this as from time to time we had nice memories here, including our son’s high school graduation dinner.
Heard but unconfirmed to be the future occupant of the space will be Red O "Taste of Mexico" (locations currently in Newport Beach, La Jolla, Santa Monica). www.redorestaurant.com
Sheesh, no one told us that Peebee & Jay’s in Newbury Park, which opened its doors in the middle of the pandemic in August 2020, recently closed its doors. I’m told sometime this summer.
That said, the NP location has not been removed as of yet from the Peebee & Jay’s website at www.peebeeandjaysonline.com. Still hungry for one of their delicious sandwiches? Their Carpinteria and Port Hueneme locations are still open.
Got word this week that Zen Garden Chinese Cuisine in Oak Park at 668 Lindero Canyon Road is going through a change in ownership. It will be operating through Friday, September 30th, then in the coming weeks will reopen as Yunnan Garden, offering authentic Yunnan/Sichuan style Chinese food.
Zen Garden originally opened in May 2013, giving it a nine year, four month run. Osaka Sushi was the previous tenant in that spot for you local history buffs.
Best wishes to Lin and Yao of Zen Garden in their future endeavors.
Pink's Hot Dogs at the Camarillo Premium Outlets recently closed its doors. It opened in August 2018. But this Hollywood landmark that has served hot dogs and hamburgers since 1939 is still open in Los Angeles. More information at www.pinkshollywood.com.

And on a historical note, The Natural Cafe Newbury Park closed its doors almost exactly 5 years ago. Rikugo Japanese BBQ now operates at that location at 1714 Newbury Road. www.rikugojapanesebbq.com
Got the heads up today from Martin W that Hook Burger at The Shoppes at Westlake Village (across from In N Out Burger) has closed. August 28th was their last day. It originally opened in October 2014.
In other news, "Board & Brew" will be coming soon to The Shoppes, serving specialty sandwiches and craft beer. No other info at this time. boardandbrew.com
Last Wednesday, August 10th, we posted to the CVG Instagram and Facebook pages that we were told by multiple sources that P. F. Chang’s at The Lakes at Thousand Oaks would be closing its doors at close of business on Sunday, August 28th. Today, the VC Star confirmed this.
After the 28th, the nearest locations to the Conejo Valley will be in Woodland Hills and Sherman Oaks.
After the 28th, California Pizza Kitchen and Kalogie Medspa will be the remaining tenants that premiered at The Lakes in 2005. Lassen’s Health Foods also continues to operate there.
At some point in the coming months, a 165 unit apartment complex will be built in a portion of the parking lot behind The Lakes. Learn more at shoplakes.com/residences-at-the-lakes-at-thousand-oaks.
Armando's Tacos in Thousand Oaks (near Crown and Anchor) closed their doors permanently today "due to unfortunate circumstances." They opened in the fall of 2020.
