Pulcinella Italian Eatery Opening Soon in Newbury Park

Pulcinella is the name of the new Italian eatery that will be opening real soon - I'm told possibly within a few days - in the former Cedro Italian Restaurant that closed on November 23rd at 2385 Michael Drive in Newbury Park.

The name of the eatery would appear to be inspired by the iconic Pulcinella mask - the mischievous soul of Naples - born in the 17th-century commedia dell'arte. Pulcinella is a trickster, a dreamer, a survivor - always laughing at life's contradictions.

Cafe and Dance Studio, "Connections Cafe" and "Builders of a Better World" Look to Open in Agoura Hills

Next Thursday, December 4th, the City of Agoura Hills Planning Commission will be reviewing an application for the operation of a dance studio, cafe, and outdoor dining area in the Agoura Village Center at 29020 Agoura Road. The proposed name of the cafe is "Connections Cafe" and the dance studio will be called "Builders of a Better World." The applicant described the concept as a destination for locals in search of community through dance or the simple act of grabbing a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. In addition to over 6,000 of indoor space, the project also proposes 662 sq ft of outdoor dining area. Agoura Hills city staff is recommending approval of the project.

The proposed space is at the southwest corner of the center, in the space formerly occupied by Prime Steakhouse, Chapter 8 Steak House & Lounge, Sunset Room, BL Dancehall & Saloon, and long ago, Hamburger Hamlet.

Cava Coming to the Westlake Plaza

No sign up yet, but they are working away on the future Cava at the Westlake Plaza, 968 S. Westlake Blvd, in Westlake Village in the former Natural Cafe. Cava offers Mediterranean bowls and pitas with shawarma, falafel, lamb, steak, hummus and more in a fast-casual setting. The nearest existing Cava location is at 6256 Topanga Canyon Blvd in Woodland Hills. The first Cava opened in 2011 in Maryland and it has grown to 415 locations across the U.S. You can put your money where your mouth is with Cava, which went public with its stock (symbol CAVA) in 2023. All Good Eats & Drinks Now Open in Thousand Oaks

UPDATE 11/14/25: NOW OPEN!

Grabbagreen Thousand Oaks closed its doors on October 19th but its owner is excited to be opening a, new independent concept called All Good Eats & Drinks. All Good will offer locally sourced meals and drinks with whole food ingredients. There will be a soft opening soon, followed by a full grand opening in near the new year.

The original Thousand Oaks Grabbagreen at 2835 T.O. Blvd opened on January 28, 2017. This second location on Moorpark Road opened on March 1, 2020, subsequently consolidating into this location.

Malibu Brewing Company Coming To Agoura Hills in Early 2026

It has been over 16 months since our last update about Malibu Brewing Company coming to the former Tavern Tomoko & Ladyface Brewery at The Shops at Kanan Village 29281 Agoura Road in Agoura Hills (at Agoura Road). Since then, the beer manufacturing and on-site alcoholic beverage licenses have been transferred to Malibu Brewing Company and current plans are to open sometime early next year. In the meantime, you can check them out at their original location at Trancas County Market in Malibu. Their website currently indicates a 3rd, undisclosed location will be announced in the future. www.brewmalibu.com

New Italian Eatery Slated for Former Presto Pasta Location in Newbury Park

This sign is on the window of the former Presto Pasta Newbury Park indicates a beer and wine license has been applied for by a new applicant. The name of the new applicant is Osteria 081, which provides a couple clues as to what type of eatery this will be. An osteria is a type of Italian eatery that serves simple meals and wine. 081 happens to be the area code for the city of Naples and surrounding areas. Located at 1025 Broadbeck Drive, Suite B, nestled between The Habit and Subway, we shall stay tuned as to future developments.

Frankie's Breakfast Burritos is Opening Sunday, October 12 in Agoura Hills

Frankie's Breakfast Burritos has announced its grand soft opening is planned for Sunday, October 12th at 28708 Roadside Drive in Agoura Hills (across from Agoura Fitness).

No menu as of yet, but here’s some tidbits from their Instagram page:

The Piggyback Delight: Cage-free eggs soft scramble, tender confit pulled pork, golden crack tater tots, and crispy jalapeño, cozied up with melty white cheddar queso and a splash of zesty salsa verde, wrapped tight in a fire-grilled tortilla.

The Sol Verde (Green Sun): Savory vegan chorizo, golden tofu turmeric scramble, crispy cracked potatoes, creamy cashew queso, chile aioli, silky avocado, fresh cilantro & salsa (mild or spicy), wrapped tight in a fire-grilled vegan tortilla. 

The Sunrise: Cage-free soft scrambled eggs, artisanal smoked candy bacon, golden crack tater tots, velvety cheddar queso, and zesty fresh Pico de Gallo, wrapped snug in a warm, fire-grilled flour tortilla.

Tortillas are made fresh, in-house, vegan and gluten-free.
