UPDATE 1/8/19: Owners noted yesterday that they have submitted building plans to the City of Simi Valley for the 3rd iteration yesterday.. Timing of opening date TBA.

The former Marie Callender's location at 20 W. Cochran Street in Simi Valley will soon be opening (as of mid-July they anticipated Fall 2018) as Mad Era Brewing Co.  Mad Era* is a production brewery and tap room that will also serve food.

* Perhaps you may note the cross street it is located at is Madera Road.

The Royal Egg Cafe is Opening Soon at the North Ranch Gateway Plaza in Westlake Village

The signs are up and it looks like The Royal Egg Cafe will be opening soon, sometime in early February, at the North Ranch Gateway (aka TJ Maxx) Plaza, 30815 Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Westlake Village.

The Royal Egg Cafe calls itself an “all day breakfast cafe serving gourmet dishes from locally sourced, organic ingredients.” Its menu indicates organic free-range chicken, all natural beef and pork and organic fair trade coffee and tea.

Hours posted on their Instagram page are Mon-Fri 6:30AM-4PM and Sat/Sun 7:30AM-4PM.

Currying Flavors Coming Soon to The Summit at Calabasas

Currying Flavors is a new eatery that serves fast casual Indian cuisine. Its first location will be opening at The Shops at Mission Viejo in January.

At some point, based on the sign on the door at 26791 Agoura Road in Calabasas (at The Summit at Calabasas), Currying Flavors will be opening a location here too.

Prior eateries at this particular location have included Chipotle and Village Fish Market, both short-lived.

We are sad to announce that Shave It! recently closed their doors after 12 years serving the local community.. It was definitely sad to see the inside of the store completely empty, after many times there with the kids after Saturday sports activities.

Made in Italy Italian Deli & Bistro Coming Soon to Westlake Village

Straight from Italy himself, Antonio Sessa will be opening Made in Italy Italian Deli & Bistro sometime in early February 2019 in the North Ranch Mall at 3825 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Westlake Village. This was previously the home of Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, which closed its doors in September 2017., sandwiched (so to speak) between the recently opened Mythpoint Bistro and Western Bagel.

Pacific by NoRu just opened at the recently vacated former home of Coconut Crab at 394 East Main Street, Suite B in Ventura.

Founders of Pacific by NoRu are Ren Weigang (born and raised in Hawaii) and James Norton (born and raised in Ventura). Their new eatery features coastal-inspired, organic foods. Menu highlights include Sake Glazed Salmon, Grilled New York Strip, Yuzo/Miso Hibachi Chicken, Roasted Beets & Local Goat Cheese, Lilikoi Cheesecake and more.

Edelweiss German Bierhaus and Restaurant Now Open in Newbury Park

The former Jeanette’s Edelweiss (and Julie’s Alps for a brief period) is now under new ownership and has rebranded as Edelweiss German Bierhaus and Restaurant. It is owned and managed by the previous manager of Jeanette’s.

The menu features bratwurst and German specialties such as weinerschnitzel, schnitzel sandwich, spatzle, hamhock, brat samplers, giant pretzels and more. There are also vegan dishes, including schnitzel, currywurst and salads.

Live polka band on Friday and Saturday nights.
