The Kids Fun Zone program at Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks in 2019 will get youth moving and offer new educational activities. Upcoming dates: TBA

The FREE Kids Fun Zone is held on the last Saturday of each month from 12 noon to 2 p.m. near the Toys R Us store entrance. 

Kids Fun Zone includes music, games and arts and crafts. Scooter, the lovable mascot, will be on hand for pictures and prize giveaways on 3/11, 

Kids Fun Zone membership is FREE for children age 12 and younger.  Families can register children at janssmarketplace.net/kids-fun-zone or at any of the monthly Kids Fun Zone events.

Kids Club at The Annex Food Hall at The Collection at RiverPark

Kids' Arts/Westside Cultural Center in Ventura

Located in downtown Ventura, Kids’ Arts is a creative arts program offered on a drop-in basis for children ages 5-14. Every Saturday morning from 10 am to noon, children participate in hands-on art, music, movement and theater activities facilitated by professional artists. All Kids’ Arts programs are fun and free!

Parents and caregivers are welcome to stay with their children and join in the fun.The Saturday art program is held at Arc of Ventura County’s Arcade Drive Community Center at 295 South Arcade Drive, Ventura.

Brandon's Buddies Free Kids Club in Calabasas

Brandon's Buddies is a free kids club that meets every month at Brandon's Village at Gates Canyon Park located at 25801 Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Calabasas. This playground is the first fully-accessible playground in the region. The day may include integrated play, face painting, arts and crafts, entertainment and treats.  Feel free to bring a sack lunch.

All children with and without disabilities and their families who want to spend a great day playing in the sunshine and making friends are invited to participate!

Brandon's Buddies gives children with disabilities the opportunity to play with their typically-able peers, while giving their parents a chance to share experiences and advice with other parents/caregivers.  It gives children without disabilities the chance to get to know their peers and gain greater awareness and compassion.

We Rock the Spectrum Kid's Gym in Agoura Hills

We Rock the Spectrum Kid's Gym at 30315 Canwood Street, Agoura Hills opened to the public in November 2013. Open 7 days a week, 9am to 6pm for open play, birthday parties, break time, Summer/Winter/Spring Camp, and more. 

The gym provides children from infant to age 13 with a fun and motivational environment to help them with strength, movement, vestibular development, sensory processing, communication and social interactions.

Activities at the gym include: zip line, full sized trampoline, rope wall, slide, monkey bars, swings, tunnels, sensory-based toys, motor play toys and equipment, arts and crafts area and more.

Open play is $14 for one child, $12 for additional siblings (as of October 2018).

Kids Club at The Lakes at Thousand Oaks

The Kids Club at The Lakes meets every Wednesday of the month at 11 a.m. during the months of March through October. Geared towards kids 10 and under.

Call 805.497.9861 for more information. Events are outdoors; rain generally cancels events but call first.

Events vary from puppet shows to storytellers to musicians, petting zoos, arts and crafts, etc. for preschoolers and their parents. These are outdoor events and are weather permitting. Contact The Lakes for more information at 805.497.9861 or www.shoplakes.com.

In addition to the kids club, The Lakes has a small playground area that is geared toward the younger kids, an expanse of grass and 2 beautiful lakes, waterfall, fountain, etc. This is a nice park-like setting that makes you forget the fact that you are looking straight out at Thousand Oaks Boulevard.

One more bonus: The Lakes is next door to the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, which has an outdoor courtyard with trees and paths that are fun for the kids to explore.

Rotary Dreamcatcher Playground at Old Meadows Park in Thousand Oaks

Old Meadows Park at 1600 Marview Drive, Thousand Oaks houses the Therapeutic Recreation Unit of the Conejo Recreation and Park District, which provides recreation programs for Conejo Valley residents with disabilities.

The park includes a one-of-a-kind "SensAbility Playground", an interactive play area stimulating senses and abilities. The playground contains mat surfacing, rolling turf hills, large shaded areas, tree log swings, seagull swings, harmony chimes, hammocks, pod seats, picnic tables and many other cool features.

The area also features a butterfly garden, physical development apparatus with features that encourage climbing, crawling, jumping and so on, sensory processing and calming features and features that encourage socialization.

There are active and passive play areas allowing children to engage in stimulating activities, and areas to which they can retreat and calm themselves after anxiety-producing experiences while remaining close by to other children, parents or caregivers.

The playground features many unique play pieces including "Playville" miniature village, elevated sand table, "Sand Works", one back hoe digger, Tenor Marimba (a xylophone-like musical piece), Talking Bob, talking horns, a sign language panel and several sensory panels. 

The Clubhouse Fun Zone in Ventura

The Clubhouse Fun Zone is located at 4535 McGrath Street, Unit B in Ventura. This indoor play facility appeals to both adults and children in that in addition to all of the play equipment, it offers three computer stations with free internet access, free WiFi, satellite radio, couches, chairs and a variety of reading material.

For the kids, there is a tri-level clubhouse themed modular climbing structure featuring two large slides, a zig-zag step climb, teeter tunnel, snake pit and ball pit, a large collection of Children’s Factory soft play activity components, an inflatable bouncer, Little Tikes play structures that create an imaginary town (including a café and gas station, school bus, fire truck, etc.), ride-on vehicles, train table, air hockey table and popular ride-on roller coasters. Recommended for kids 6 and under but all ages welcome.

The Clubhouse also offers a range of drinks and snacks that includes self-service gourmet coffee and tea as well as birthday party packages. The facility is open to the public Monday through Friday and weekends for private parties.
