Billy D'z Backyard BBQ in Newbury Park Has Closed Its Doors

billydz.jpg

Sorry to hear the news today from Bill Dobner of Billy D'z Backyard BBQ in Newbury Park.

"After almost seven years in business, Billy D’z Backyard BBQ has closed.  Opened in 2011 by Bill & Carey Dobner, our BBQ restaurant has served thousands of dine in, take out & catering guests.  We want to thank all our loyal guests, family & employees who have helped us achieve our dream of opening a BBQ restaurant that serves quality food & drink with backyard BBQ hospitality here in Ventura County.

Unfortunately, we have to close our business to tend to some family members who are going through some tough health issues.  It is time for us to put family in front of everything else that is going on in our world.  The restaurant business is a tough business that takes lots of hard work & dedication.  We feel it is most important for us to take care of our family members who have helped us so much over the 30+ years we have been in the restaurant business.

Thanks again to all our guests over the years! "

The Dobner family and Billy D'z Backyard BBQ will be greatly missed in our community. Best wishes to them in their future endeavors.

Billy D'z opened it doors on November 28, 2011.

Sooki's Japanese Grill in Newbury Park Appears to Have Closed Its Doors

sookisclosed.JPG

At least that appears to be the case. Sooki's Japanese Grill, which has operated at the Ralphs strip mall at 579 N. Ventu Road in Newbury Park since 1980, is no longer open. The phone number has been disconnected. There's no sign indicating what's going on, so one could presume Sooki's is closed. At least for the time being. Stay tuned.  www.sookis.net

The last of the Ventura County based El Torito locations has closed its doors. The Simi Valley location at 2498 Erringer Road closed this week. El Torito fans in Ventura County will now have to drive to Woodland Hills or Northridge.

Previous Ventura County El Torito locations that closed include the Oxnard location in December 2015 and the Thousand Oaks location in January 2012.

Takahashi Sushi Recently Closed Its Doors at the North Ranch Mall in Thousand Oaks

Takahashi Sushi recently ended its long stint (over 25 years) in the North Ranch Mall, 3835 Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Thousand Oaks

I go way back with Takahashi, back to the days when the Trek Bike Store (previously Westlake Cyclery) was a Tower Records Store and the Petco was a furniture store. And nobody knew about poke, unless they were from Hawaii.

Sorry to see you go, Takahashi-san, but you had an extremely long stint here in the Conejo Valley! Sushi you later!
