For anyone holding out hope that Red Robin at The Oaks mall would re-open someday, I have confirmed with Red Robin that this location is permanently closed.
Other Ventura County Red Robin locations still open include Oxnard (The Collection at RiverPark), Ventura (Pacific View Mall) and Simi Valley (Simi Valley Town Center).
STACKED at The Oaks is still closed, though no official confirmation on if the closure will be permanent.
Pizza Rev appears to be permanently closed. But the good news is that Hot Dog on a Stick recently reopened.
Visit shoptheoaksmall.com for more information.
Le Pain Quotidien at The Commons at Calabasas recently closed its doors. That leaves the Westlake Village location at 2728 Townsgate Road the sold remaining Le Pain west of Woodland Hills.
Flame Broiler originally opened at 1025 Broadbeck Drive in Newbury Park on September 30, 2013. It shut its doors “temporarily” after the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic last spring. More recently, the sign was removed and our sole Ventura County Flame Broiler is no longer.
There are plenty of Flame Broilers still open, but you’ll have to drive to the San Fernando Valley for them…Northridge, Sherman Oaks, Universal City Walk, etc. flamebroilerusa.com
We’ll miss you, Flame Broiler.
Lemonade Restaurant at The Promenade at Westlake will be closing its doors permanently on February 21st. Lemonade originally opened on Veterans Day 2012.
Prior to that, CPK ASAP occupied this space, closing its doors on May 27, 2012.
What’s next? Stay tuned.
UPDATE: Amy’s Drive Thru will be opening at the former Mimi’s Cafe Thousand Oaks location in early 2022, bringing organic fast food to this spot.
Mimi’s Cafe at 400 North Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks in the Best Buy Plaza has permanently closed its doors, as has the location at the Pacific View Mall in Ventura. Mimi’s Thousand Oaks opened in the mid-1990s.
There are no remaining Mimi’s Cafe locations remaining in Ventura County. The closest locations are in Chatsworth and Valencia.
More information at www.mimiscafe.com.
UPDATE: Everbowl opened on June 4th.
Everbowl is coming soon to the North Ranch Mall, 3835 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Unit H, Westlake Village (a few doors down from Trader Joe’s and Petco).
Established in 2016, Everbowl is a quick-serve restaurant that features build-your-own superfood bowls and smoothies featuring acai, acerola, pitaya and graviola as the base ingredient along with unlimited fresh fruit toppings and other healthy add-ins. And for your history fans, previously located here was Nekter Juice Bar, which opened in August 2014. Before that it was a Robeks Juice Bar
We’ve heard from several Simi Valley folks that the Islands Simi Valley has closed its doors. The signs are down, the location is no longer listed on the Islands website (Agoura Hills and Newbury Park are still there) and the phone is no longer in service. Sorry to hear the news.
Islands was established in West Los Angeles in 1982. In 2001, there were 31 Islands locations, including 27 in California and 4 in Arizona. Today there are around 45 California locations and 2 in Arizona. www.islandsrestaurants.com
Currying Flavors, which opened at The Shops at Oak Creek in Agoura Hills in August 2019, recently closed its doors. I personally enjoyed the food here, but the concept didn’t really seem to take off in 2019, then COVID undoubtedly had some impact on this Los Angeles County based business.
