Leila's Restaurant in Oak Park announced on the 19th that it will be open through dinner on Saturday, April 25th, then will be closing its doors. Leila's "sister" restaurant, Pearl District, opened in Westlake Village late last December. Thanks to Karen G for the heads up via the CVG Facebook page.

Nico's Cafe also closed in that same location at the northeast corner of Lindero and Kanan roads a few weeks ago. Nico’s opened its doors in May 2006. But more recently, Margarita's Mexican Grill opened in the former home of Cigale Cafe in that same retail corner.
Letty's Mexican Restaurant at 2454 Hillcrest Drive in Newbury Park appears to have closed its doors, based on the writing on the door "Closed for Good - Sorry." Letty's has operated at this location for over 20 years. Best of luck to its staff. Thanks for the heads up from Mindy N via the CVG Facebook page.
UPDATE: Coco’s Simi Valley at 698 E. Los Angeles Ave closed in September 2022. No more Coco’s in Ventura County. The closest Coco’s is now in Mission Hills.
According to Nation's Restaurant News, the new owners of Coco's Bakery and Carrows has closed approximately half of the eateries' locations that were deemed to be underperforming. CVG Facebook readers noted this too and we have confirmed that the following Ventura County locations have been closed:
Coco's: Camarillo and Ventura (as well as the neighboring location at 4895 Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas)
Carrows: Oxnard and Ojai
That leaves us with a single Carrows in Ventura and a single Coco's in Simi Valley.
(Carrows in Ventura closed in mid-2019.)
The Counter Burger had perhaps my favorite veggie burger in town.
The Counter Burger in Westlake Village unexpectedly closed its doors earlier this week. The eatery opened in April 2009. Sorry to see it go! One of my family's favorite local burger places. The closest Counter Burger locations to the Conejo Valley are now in Studio City and Santa Monica www.thecounterburger.com/locations.
Anarbagh Indian Cuisine indicates it will be opening its new Westlake Village location next month at 30853 E Thousand Oaks Blvd, Westlake Village, which happens to be the unexpectedly former home of China Garden in the TJ Maxx Plaza (at Lindero Canyon). Thanks to Mark S for the tip yesterday.
UPDATE: Anarbagh is now indeed open. I believe it opened in May.
According to the Anarbagh website at www.anarbaghla.com, "We have more than 20 years of experience in making delicious traditional dishes, with recipes from the North and the South of India. Our hard work has paid off by winning the recognition of LA Times & Daily News as the best Indian restaurant in Southern California, and being critically acclaimed by AAA Magazine, LA Times and Daily News."
Other Anarbagh locations are in Los Angeles, Woodland Hills, Encino and Beverly Hills. For updates, check the Anarbagh Westlake Village Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pages/Anarbagh-Westlake/846173025405922.
Well gosh darn, that's a bummer. Steve of Steve's un-Original Pizza in Newbury Park indicated in a February 15th Facebook post that they will be serving up their final slices at their MB2 Raceway location on Sunday, March 1st. The pizzeria originally opened in January 2014.
Conejo Valley Guide Facebook Page follower Kimberlea A pointed out tonight that, according to her hubby, the Thousand Oaks location of Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que (3980 Thousand Oaks Boulevard) recently closed its doors. This was confirmed by a phone call to the Simi Valley Town Center location, not to mention that lack of any mention of the Thousand Oaks location on the Famous Dave's website at www.famousdaves.com.
Those who enjoy their BBQ can still enjoy it at The Collection at RiverPark in Oxnard and the Simi Valley Town Center. UPDATE: I take that back…both of these locations have since closed and the nearest Famous Dave’s locations to Thousand Oaks are in Irvine and Rancho Cucamonga.
Update 1/26/15: Twisted Oak Tavern has been open this week with a "sneak peak" menu until its full menu is introduced sometime next month!

The Lab Brewing Company in Agoura Hills announced on December 20th that it was temporarily closing its doors for a remodel, new design and concept. Recently the owners announced that the name of their new gastropub and in-house brewery is the Twisted Oak Tavern.
They are anticipating a late January grand re-opening date and have posted photos on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TwistedOakTavern. They have relocated their beer tanks to a more visible location, installed 100 year barn wood on the walls and are replacing the booths.
Owners are calling the Twisted Oak Tavern a "fresh twist on a classic tavern. 30 beers on tap featuring our in-house brewery: LAB Brewing Co, cold brew coffee on-nitro and craft cocktails served with elevated pub cuisine."
The grand opening is indeed coming soon...they announced that blues singer and guitarist Preston Smith will lead off the live music schedule on Friday, February 6th at 10pm.
Located at 30105 Agoura Rd, Agoura Hills in the Agoura Hills Town Center, across the street from the Sheraton. Visit www.twistedoaktavern.pub or follow their Facebook page for updates.
The Lab originally opened on 11/1/11 after owners decided to change the previous concept...MOZ Buddha Lounge, which was closed on 5/14/11. Neat to see owners willing to change it up every few years to keep its customers on their toes!
