Thanks to a tip from Anastasia via the CVG Facebook page, then a review of the Elephant Bar Facebook page, followed by confirmation by this Santa Clarita Valley Signal article, we've learned that the Elephant Bar Global Grill/Wok Kitchen in Simi Valley (as well as locations in Northridge, Valencia and Burbank) will be closing this Thursday.
The Simi Valley Elephant Bar is (soon to be was) located at 1825 Madera Road.
Elephant Bar was founded in 1980 and has locations in nine states. The closure appears to be part of an effort to close down underperforming locations.
UPDATE 10/29/14: Last week, N'Awlinz 805 Grill opened at Centennial Plaza, the former home of N'Awlinz Bistro. Same cajun style food with some menu and concept changes1
I was shocked to see the news on the N'Awlinz Bistro Facebook page today: "We regretfully announce that Sunday, June 8th will be the last day of service for NAWLINZ Bistro and will remain closed until further notice. We thank you for your patronage over the last 8 months and hope to see you soon in one of our future endeavors. Please feel free to leave your comments. -Chef Marcus Webster."
N'Awlinz Bistro first opened its doors here in the Conejo Valley in Newbury Park location in February 2012, then closed its doors there in December 2013 to focus its efforts on its Oxnard location, which opened to the public in September 2013. The Newbury Park location on Kimber Drive now serves as a catering-only location. Note: Please invite me to your event if you plan to use N'Awlinz Bistro as your caterer. YUM!

Update February 2015: Old Town Tavern closed the last weekend of January. Here's a comment from the eatery on its Facebook page "we lost our lease and moving to moorpark with a new concept called Kraftap stay tuned!"
Update 5/4/14: Old Town Tavern Camarillo is now open for business.
Today (4/17/14), The French Bulldog Bistro & Lounge announced on its Facebook page that it closed its doors this past Monday, April 14th, but will "be re-opening with a new look and concept on May 2nd." No other details at this point but the indicate the new concept will appeal to a wider audience.
The former The French Bulldog is located at 2433 Ventura Boulevard in Old Town Camarillo. It originally opened in March 2012. Prior to that, JJ Brewsky's was at this historic location.
There's a sign on the door that indicates "The Old Town Tavern" is coming soon. Stay tuned...
On a historic note, this building was established in 1916 by Joseph F. Lewis & Sons, making it nearly 100 years old! The building originally housed a department store, confectionery store, barber shop, the Farmers Bank of Camarillo and the Knob Hill Garage.
The Grill Restaurant & Bar, formerly known as California Grill, in the Las Posas Plaza at 67 Daily Drive in Camarillo for over two decades, has an eviction notice on its window dated April 25th. Sorry to see you go, The Grill, and best of luck to your staff.
Viva La Pasta's at 252 W. Los Angeles Avenue in Moorpark recently closed its doors. However, the Simi Valley location in the Wood Ranch center at 525 Country Club Drive is still open. Visit www.vivalapastasimivalley.com.
Lauren R tipped us off on the CVG Facebook page that the California Crisp Cafe, previously located at 5794 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village in the Albertson's/Michael's plaza, is closed. Hmm, I'd never even heard of the place. It actually looks (or I should looked) pretty good based on the menu at www.californiacrisp.com/westlake_wraps.htm. If they re-open somewhere else around town and I actually hear about them, I will definitely try them out!
The rumors this weekend were true. Claim Jumper at The Lakes at Thousand Oaks closed its doors at close of business yesterday, Sunday, February 23, 2014. Claim Jumper opened in 2005, when The Lakes first opened. Always sad to see a popular restaurant closing, but I suspect we will hear something else coming here soon. If you still a hankering for Claim Jumper, the nearest location to Ventura County is in Northridge. Visit claimjumper.com for more information.
Ed G of Thousand Oaks also pointed out to us that Los Agaves Mexican Grill at 2350 East Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks, which closed mid-last year, opened as a new restaurant, but subsequently opened again as Los Agaves Mexican Grill, is now closed. The sign on the door, pictured below, indicates that may try to open again at a new location in the future. Los Agaves served Thousand Oaks for ten years.
