The Chakaa Tea Cafe sign is up in the Walmart/Walgreens center at 520 N. Ventu Park Road, Suite 140, Newbury Park, in the former home of Rave Organics Cafe. No other information at this point, so stay tuned.
Emil’s Bake House opened at the Shops at Kanan Village, 5005 Kanan Road, Agoura Hills (at Agoura Road), south of the 101, in December 2019.
Emil's carries a fantastic, freshly-baked assortment of pastries, breads, desserts, fruit tarts, cakes, muffins and more, not to mention fresh quiche, They bake everything right here! Lavazza coffee, fresh juices and Pinkberry frozen yogurt too.
I tried. I liked. Bought an assortment of pastries and other baked goodies. There’s a huge selection. Run 20 miles before you go here to burn off the calories needed to consume more.

Recently, Ladyface Alehouse & Brasserie in Agoura Hills changed ownership and rebranded as Tavern Tomoko and Ladyface Brewery.
The new concept brings together contemporary Japanese small plates (grilled skewers, hot and cold tapas, etc.) and American gastropub fare (burgers, sandwiches, sliders, etc.) along with the Ladyface craft ales, cocktails and more that we've enjoyed since 2009.

Brazilian Burrito - Plantains, mushrooms, leeks, chopped jalapeño, black beans, organic brown rice, avocado, garlic aioli & habanero cream 'cheese' in a whole wheat tortilla wrap. Spicy raw sauce on the side.
Miso Rainbow Bowl - Organic brown rice topped w/ seaweed salad, tofu, fried eggplant, spicy pickled cabbage, cucumber, carrot, corn, edamame, sesame seeds & crispy onions. Soy ginger vinaigrette and miso dressing on the side.
Farmer's Lasagna - Organic lasagna noodles w/ local farm fresh seasonally available vegetables. Layered w/ pesto, dill cashew cheese, organic house-made marinara and Follow Your Heart mozzarella. Topped w fresh basil.
Taco Salad - Jackfruit 'carnitas', brown rice, black beans, chopped romaine lettuce, cabbage, avocado, pico de gallo, spicy avocado dressing, habanero cream cheese, pickled jalapeño, pickled cabbage & corn tortilla strips on an organic corn tostada.
UPDATE: Peebee & Jay’s Newbury Park opened in August. Currently open 10:30am to 4pm Monday through Saturday.
Long-time CVG friend Dawn Viet pointed out that the sign "Peebee & Jay's" is up at the Thousand Oaks Marketplace (aka Walmart/Walgreen plaza) at 520 N. Ventu Park Road. Located directly to the right of Dong Ting Spring Chinese Cuisine and two doors from Jimmy John's on the right.
Peebee & Jay's, with locations in Carpinteria and Port Hueneme, offers an interesting array of sandwiches, soups and salads. Quite a delicious sounding array of sandwiches, such as "Chicken Dressed Up Like a Salad" (sliced chicken, avocado, bacon, balsamic rosemary spread, french fried onions, etc.) as well as PB&J sandwiches like "Smore Peebee Please" (pb, Nutella and marshmallow fluff). Stay tuned on timing.
I've been told that Lalo's Family Restaurant will be opening its Camarillo location at 1901 Daily Drive on Memorial Day. Mexican cuisine served up at Lalo’s locations in Oxnard, Ventura and now Camarillo. This is the space formerly operated by Tony Roma's, Yamato, then Sushi Teri Teppan House, which closed in 2015. www.lalosfamilyrestaurant.com
La Esquina Mexican Grill now open.
Looks like a new eatery is coming soon to 3297 Thousand Oaks Boulevard (formerly Just Coffee). La Esquina Mexican Grill (or The Corner Mexican Grill). They are hiring at Laesquinamexicangrill@hotmail.com. They appear to have two websites, laesquinamexicangrill.com and thecornermexicangrill.com although it appears they are migrating towards the latter
Armando’s Tacos opened in the fall of 2020.
Armando's Tacos is "coming soon" according to the sign at 2683 Thousand Oaks Boulevard between Tile City and D'Amore's Pizza in the Skyline Center, Thousand Oaks. Previously in this location for many years was Hair Impressions. No other information at this time. Located approximately 200 steps from Bad Ass Street Tacos.
