The Container Store at The Collection at RiverPark in Oxnard is closing its doors next month. A storewide closing sale is currently taking place. The previously announced Thousand Oaks store closing final date is anticipated to be January 24th. The Woodland Hills store remains open.
The Container Store in Oxnard originally opened on November 14, 2015.
Sign up at The Container Store in Thousand Oaks reads "We are permanently closing this store in January." It originally opened this "small-format" location at 33 N. Moorpark Road on April 1, 2023 in the former Pier 1 Imports store. The specific closing date is not noted on the sign.
Other nearby The Container Store locations will remain open in Oxnard at The Collection at RiverPark and ** in Woodland Hills. www.containerstore.com

The Amazon Fresh store at The Promenade at Westlake will be closing its doors on Monday, April 28th. It originally opened in August 2022. Thanks to Karla G for the heads up and photo via the CVG Instagram page.
JOANN posted the following announcement today at www.joannrestructuring.com:
“Following a comprehensive sale process and auction, GA Group together with the Prepetition Term Loan Agent, has been selected as the winning bidder to acquire substantially all of JOANN’s assets. In connection with this agreement, subject to Bankruptcy Court approval of the transaction, the winning bidders plan to begin winding down the Company's operations and conduct going-out-of-business sales at all store locations.
JOANN leadership, our Board, advisors and legal partners made every possible effort to pursue a more favorable outcome that would keep the company in business. We are committed to working constructively with the winning bidder to ensure an orderly wind-down of operations that minimizes the impact on all our stakeholders. We deeply appreciate our dedicated Team Members, our customers and communities across the nation for their unwavering support for more than 80 years.”
Effectively what this means is, subject to Bankruptcy Court approval on February 26th, ALL JOANN stores will be closing in the coming months. Recently, JOANN announced liquidation sales at 500 of its 800 locations, including local area stores in Oxnard, Simi Valley, and Woodland Hills. The Thousand Oaks store at 1516 N. Moorpark Road in the Conejo Valley Plaza was not on that list. Visit www.joann.com for updates.
Jo-Ann stores originated in 1943 when German immigrants Hilda and Berthold Reich and Sigmund and Mathilda Rohrback opened the Cleveland Fabric Shop. After growing to 18 shops in Ohio, the business was renamed Jo-Ann Fabrics, named after the combined names of the couples' daughters, Joan Zimmerman and Jacqueline Ann Rosskamm.
The Regency Theatres in Agoura Hills will be operating until February 9th, as the parcel it is located on 29045 Agoura Road (at Cornell Road) will soon be redeveloped into a mixed-use development consisting of a new 4-story apartment building with 278 units (313,000 sq ft), a parking garage, and 5,258 sq ft of commercial space. The project will include housing for 28 qualifying "very low-income" families and 10 qualifying low-income families.
Exotic Thai will be operating until February 7th and indicates it "will be relocating to the Chili and Lime restaurant at 2705 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks" this month. Sushi Su will be operating until February 10th and also indicates they will temporarily be operating at the Chili and Lime restaurant in Thousand Oaks.

The store liquidation sales have begun at Party City. The company indicates stores to close by February. Discounts range from 5% to 50%. Local area stores in Newbury Park, Simi Valley, and Oxnard. I for one, as a periodic shopper at the Newbury Park location, am sad to see yet another large chain shut its doors. www.partycity.com
