Future Track Running Pack

futuretracklogonew.jpg

Coach Bill Duley started Future Track in 1988 in Agoura Hills. More than 30 years later the club holds on to the original goals of enhancing the running experience for adult athletes and supporting youth athletes and the local Conejo/Simi/San Fernando Valley running communities. Along with weekly certified coached track workouts, the Running Pack organizes other weekly runs, provides an annual scholarship, maintains our local trails, wraps holiday presents, has an annual chili cook-off, a pub run, and so much more. Whether you are a weekend warrior, training for your first 5k, an experienced marathoner, or chasing a belt buckle, the Future Track Running Pack is for you.

The group currently trains at the Oak Park High School track on Tuesday nights.

Running/Walking Track at Arneill Ranch Park in Camarillo

Tucked into a residential neighborhood in Camarillo is a relatively small, very low key park called Arneill Ranch Park. This is an older park surrounding by homes at 1301 Sweetwater Avenue, just west of Arneill, between Dunnigan and Rocklyn.

This particular photo of the park does not highlight the running track, but trust me, there is one. :>

While I would not go out of my way to visit this park with my kids (there's a small playground and swings for the local neighborhood kids), what is particularly unique about this park is that there is a full 1/4 mile hard-packed dirt track that circles the park. Nothing overly fancy, but a great opportunity to do some track/interval training or just jogging/walking in a controlled, measurable fashion. It is quite rare to find a park with a running track like this.

The park also has some decent, fairly newish looking fitness stations around the track, as well as restrooms.

Pepper Tree Park is a 21.7 acre park located at the corner of Reino Road and Old Conejo Road in Newbury Park. It is a park that is well known by local youth sports teams that practice and play here, such as AYSO soccer and others.

Surrounding the park is a .83 mile fitness trail that is popular with local walkers and runners. Every 1/8th of a mile around the trail is a fitness activity. This is mostly a hard-packed dirt path, with one paved section crossing between the restroom/parking lot area. Learn more about Pepper Tree Park at crpd.org/parkfac/parks/peppertree.asp.
