SoCal Museums "Museum Free-for-All" Day on Saturday, March 23, 2024

SoCal Museums announces the Museums Free-for-All on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Over thirty museums—presenting art, cultural heritage, film, natural history, and science—will open their doors and offer free general admission.

Of particular interest to local audiences, the following Santa Barbara and Ventura County museums will be participating in Museums Free-for-All:

  • Museum of Ventura County

  • Santa Barbara Museum of Art

  • Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History

President Reagan's 113th Birthday Celebration at Reagan Library Simi Valley on February 6, 2024

President Reagan's 113th Birthday Celebration is planned at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley on Monday, February 6, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

To honor President Ronald Reagan on the anniversary of his birthday, the President of the United States has designated that a program be held at President Reagan’s Memorial Site at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library each year.

The Commanding General at United States Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton will conduct the ceremony, which will commence at 11:00 a.m. with a music prelude beginning at 10:30 a.m. by the Camp Pendleton Marine Division Band. The ceremony includes a color guard, chaplain, a brass quintet, a 21-gun salute, the placing of an official White House wreath on President Reagan’s gravesite and keynote remarks by former President of Poland, Lech Walesa, a man who, like Ronald Reagan, recognized the important of human rights, democracy, and freedom.

The ceremony will be held outdoors at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, located at 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley.

Petersen Automotive Museum Offers Free Digital Vault Tours During COVID-19 Closure

While temporarily closed until further notice, the museum will offer hour-long digital tours of the Vault presented by Hagerty® beginning Wednesday, March 25, 2020

For enthusiasts looking for digital entertainment during this time, the Petersen Automotive Museum will stream Vault tours for free during its temporary closure. Led by Collection Manager Dana Williamson, the hour-long digital tour will provide rare access to never-before-seen vehicles from the Vault presented by Hagerty®. Each live stream session is themed. Admission to view online Vault tours will be by suggested donation. Donations allow the museum to continue to maintain its collection and support staff and digital programs during its closure.

“Free Vault tours offer enthusiasts around the world an opportunity to enjoy our collection from the comfort of home,” said Petersen Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “These are tough times, but we are happy to give back to the community and fellow enthusiasts by providing a source of entertainment and education.”
