Grabbagreen to Open Second Thousand Oaks Location in Early 2020 (March 1st)

UPDATE: The actual opening date was March 1st!

Grabbagreen let the cat out of the bag last night on their Facebook page that they have secured a lease on a second location within Thousand Oaks. The location is the Rocket Fizz on Moorpark Road at Wilbur that closed its doors on Thursday (across from Peet’s Coffee and near Bandit’s BBQ. Anticipated opening date is sometime in the first quarter of 2020.

Congratulations to the Grabbagreen team for their successful foray into serving up healthful, nutritious, organic foods in the Conejo Valley. The location at 2835 Thousand Oaks Boulevard (at the former home of Tile City), opened in January 2017.

Urban Vejjie is Opening Soon at The Shoppes at Westlake (Now Open June 23, 2020)

Urban Vejjie is coming soon to The Shoppes at Westlake, in the former Greens Up! location at 30760 Russell Ranch Road, Suite B.

Urban Vejjie will be serving up a vegetarian menu created with organic, natural ingredients. No other details at this time but check their website for updates at www.urbanvejjie.com.

Robeks Juice Now Open in the Conejo Valley Plaza in Thousand Oaks

October 2019: Robeks Fresh Juice and Smoothie Store at 1404 N. Moorpark Road in the Conejo Valley Shopping Center is now open. Store hours are 8 am to 8 pm Monday through Sunday. Grand opening event on October 26th. Check for updates on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/robeksthousandoaks.

Progress (June 2019)

January 2019:

There's a Robeks Juices and Smoothies coming soon to the Conejo Valley Plaza (aka Toppers Pizza Plaza), 1414 N. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks. Don’t know the timing as of yet, but this will double the number of Robeks in Ventura County - the other one is at the Las Posas Plaza in Camarillo.

Previously this was Juice It Up Raw Juice Bar, which opened in Summer 2015 and closed in Summer 2018. Prior to that this was briefly Tizzy Yogurt Cafe (closed December 2014) and before that, Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt.

Santour Kabobery Persian Restaurant Now Open in Simi Valley

Santour Kabobery is coming soon to 1229 Simi Town Center Way, Simi Valley in the long-vacant former Famous Dave’s BBQ space, near Islands. No other word on timing at this point but a Facebook post by Chef Sam indicates it will be one of the largest Persian restaurants out there. Stay tuned.

Tipped off by Darts Promoter L. David Irete, I drove by the former Sooki’s Japanese Grill in the Ralphs strip mall at 579 N. Ventu Road in Newbury Park to find “The Nook Restaurant” sign up.

Though there was no sign of a local The Nook Restaurant in the Conejo Valley, a quick call to The Nook Restaurant on Ventura Boulevard in Encino turned up the fact that this indeed is a new, second location of this eatery.

The Nook serves breakfast and lunch with a menu that includes pancakes, crepes, waffles, French toast, scrambles, omelettes, Benedicts and more for breakfast. The lunch menu includes salads, burgers, sandwiches, pastas and other items. www.breakfastatthenook.com

No other info at this point but I’m sure we’ll hear more soon!

West Village Cafe Now Open at North Ranch Gateway in Westlake Village (Now Milad's Kitchen)

Amelia S. has an eye for pointing out new eateries coming to the Conejo Valley. The latest is the West Village Cafe, coming soon to the North Ranch Gateway at the northeast corner of Lindero and Thousand Oaks Boulevard, 30869 Thousand Oaks Boulevard, across the parking lot from Dunkin' Donuts and next to Domino's Pizza.

This spot was formerly occupied by Teko’s Brazilian Grill in 2017.

Mad Era Brewing Co. Coming Soon to Simi Valley

The former Marie Callender's location at 20 W. Cochran Street in Simi Valley will soon be opening (as of mid-July they anticipated Fall 2018) as Mad Era Brewing Co.  Mad Era* is a production brewery and tap room that will also serve food.

* Perhaps you may note the cross street it is located at is Madera Road.

Jack's Donuts Now Open at Conejo Valley Plaza in Thousand Oaks

UPDATE: At long last, Jack’s Donuts opened to the public on Saturday, November 9th.

Update 8/28/19: Opening date has been pushed out slightly but soft opening date will be announced soon.

Update 8/2/19: I’ve been informed that Jack’s Donuts anticipates a “soft opening” in mid-August and grand opening in early September. Stay tuned.

Hector Diaz @ThinkStatus pointed out that Jack’s Donuts is “coming soon” to the Conejo Valley Plaza in Thousand Oaks in the spot next to the “coming soon” Robek’s Juice (before that, Juice It Up), a few doors away from Toppers Pizza Place.

Jack’s Donuts originated in 1961 when Jack and Ada Marcum bought Bill’s Donut Shoppe in New Castle, Indiana. He subsequently renamed it Jack’s Donuts and the rest is history.

The closest Jack’s Donuts to Thousand Oaks at the moment is located in South Jordan, Utah, just 713 miles from Thousand Oaks.

California Fish Grill Casual Kitchen Opening Soon at the Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks

FINALLY! GRAND OPENING DATE WILL BE MONDAY, JULY 26, 2021!

Yes folks, the standalone building previously occupied by Hooters, Fuddruckers and Sizzler at Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks will soon have a new occupant - California Fish Grill. This is excellent news for the Conejo Valley, based on my own recent visit to the California Fish Grill in Woodland Hills.

California Fish Grill is a fast-casual type place, where you order at the counter and wait for your order. I was impressed by the large selection of fresh fish, such as salmon, swai (whitefish), ahi, catfish, sea bass and others. I was quite pleasantly surprised by the taste and portions.
