Upcoming Events and Activities at the Camarillo Public Library

The City of Camarillo Public Library is located at 4101 Las Posas Road and is open Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 9 pm and Friday through Sunday 10 am to 5 pm. It can be reached at 805.388.5222. The library hosts year-round free activities and programs for the general public, many of which will be highlighted right here (for a complete rundown, visit the library's website at www.camarillolibrary.org.

Maltese Falcon (1941) [NR]

In this noir classic, detective Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart) gets more than he bargained for when he takes a case brought to him by a beautiful but secretive woman (Mary Astor). As soon as Miss Wonderly shows up, trouble follows as Sam's partner is murdered and Sam is accosted by a man (Peter Lorre) demanding he locate a valuable statuette. Sam, entangled in a dangerous web of crime and intrigue, soon realizes he must find the one thing they all seem to want: the bejeweled Maltese falcon.

King Kong (1933) [NR] Actress Ann Darrow (Fay Wray) and director Carl Denham (Robert Armstrong) travel to the Indian Ocean to do location shoots for Denham's new jungle picture. Along the way, the actress meets and falls for rugged First Mate John Driscoll (Bruce Cabot). Upon arriving at a mysterious island, Ann is taken hostage by natives who prepare her as a sacrifice to the enormous ape Kong who rules over their jungle. But when Ann is rescued and Kong is captured, the real trouble begins.

Children's Programs

Mon 10/1 - 6:30pm to 8:00pm - Join us for a creative costume demo presented by Holly Cleeland, author of Glue and Go Costumes for Kids. This program will inspire kids to create imaginative costumes from everyday household items. They just need to bring their imagination and Holly will work with them to brainstorm ideas for costumes they can make. There will also be costume give-away prizes! 

Mon 10/8 10am - Magical Movin' Mondays - Join in for dancing fun and crafts. Toddlers welcome!

Sat 10/13 1pm - "Coco with Cocoa" program featuring free family screening of Coco, proceeded by Cocoa Hour at 1pm.

Mon 10/29, Tue 10/30, Wed 10/31 at 10am - Kindermusik with Katie for toddlers, preschoolers and their families. Come in costume on the 31st!

Sat 10/6 -11am to 4pm - Comic Book Day - Mini comic books trivia challenge at 1pm, prizes, activities and more. Free screening of "The Incredibles" at 2pm. Limited supply of free comic books too.

Mon 10/8 - 6:30-8pm - Maker Mondays "Recycled Book Art" - meets in Community Room

Sat 10/13 11am to 4pm - Star Wars Reads Day event. Make Star Wars themed crafts and meet costumed characters. The whole family is invited.

Sat/Sun 10/27-28 - Harry Potter Escape Room - Register beginning 9/29 at Children's Desk.
