Mama Rita's in Dos Vientos Ranch (Newbury Park) is Closing Its Doors in 2011
Friday, November 26, 2010 at 02:15PM Update August 2011: A new restaurant, La Cucina di Venti, is slated to open in the vacated Mama Rita's spot in Fall 2011.
The owner of Mama Rita's Authentic Mexican Cantina in the Dos Vientos Ranch section of Newbury Park announced today that Mama Rita's is closing its doors next year but will remain open through 2010. This is sad news all around for Laura, the local community and Paraiso Town Center but on a positive note, Laura indicates she will continue her catering business out of another local location TBD.
Mama Rita's has been at Paraiso since its opening 2 1/2 years ago. Prior to that, Mama Rita's had a primarily catering location in Westlake Village near Costco. My wife has been a big fan of Mama Rita's chile rellenos since those earlier days and we fought over them as soon as they reached our kitchen counter.
So please spread the word and tell everyone to stop by Mama Rita's these next 35 days that they remain open! Laura is planning a huge party sometime next month.

This weekend we just found out about this restaurant being closed. Is there another location?
I am sad for this closing. The location wasn't the best (kind of out of the way), but the food was top notch and it was "our little secret". The people that ran this place are so nice! We love BRAD the singing waiter! He's awesome!
Please let me know if there is another location and we will be all over it!
Sorry to see you go from the neighborhood!
Too expensive, no privacy or warmth, food not that good, name is silly, bad location!
