"Same Time Next Year" at Elite Theatre Company in Oxnard June 1 to July 1, 2018

Same Time Next Year
By Bernard Slade

In this touching and poignant play, New Jersey accountant George Peters and Oakland housewife Doris meet at a Northern California inn in February 1951. They have an “accidental” affair, and agree to meet once a year, despite the fact both are married to others and have six children between them. Over the course of the next 24 years, they develop an emotional intimacy deeper than what one would expect to find between two people meeting for a clandestine relationship just once a year. During the time they spend with each other, they discuss the births, deaths, politics, and marital problems each is experiencing at home, while they adapt themselves to the social changes affecting their lives. Debuting on Broadway in 1975, the play was then made into a beloved film in 1978. This timeless classic speaks to an unusual love and deep friendship that transcends the accepted boundaries of the time and matrimony. Please note: The play contains adult themes and parental discretion is advised. Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, the play runs at the Elite Theatre Company from June 1, 2018 through July 1, 2018.
