Since early childhood I was exposed to the world of cinematography for my father was a Director in the making of commercials in my native country of Chile. However, my desire to explore the various dimensions of the human soul through a lens was sparked by the famous photograph by Malcom Browne of the Buddhist monk in Saigon who immolate as an act of protest against the government of Ngo Dinh Diem in 1963. – R. Palavecino

Over 40 portraits selected from the photographer’s continuing documentary series ”Expressions of Life”, which reveals the distinctiveness of individuals and showcase the human spirit. Palavecino’s portrait investigations include individual from urban and suburban communities ranging from Oxnard and Los Angeles to Chile.
