The City of Camarillo will host a Veterans Memorial Monument Dedication Ceremony on Saturday, November 10, 2018 beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Constitution Park, 601 Carmen Drive. Seating begins at 9:30 a.m., and the event is free and open to the public.
The City has partnered with local American Legion Post 741 to expand the Camarillo Veterans Memorial to include a monument with several plaques listing the names of all fallen service members from Camarillo/Somis from WW II to present. The concrete and granite monument will feature brass plaques donated by American Legion Post 741. The Legion has commissioned Conejo Mountain Memorial Park to design and install the plaques.
This is the sixth and last event the City will hold as a Commemorative Partner in the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Commemoration program sponsored by the Department of Defense to honor Camarillo-area veterans who served during the Vietnam War period. One of the memorial plaques will honor fallen Vietnam soldiers, and the program will include a special certificate presentation to families of those killed in action in the Vietnam War.
Veterans and their families from all branches and all eras of service, as well as the general public, are welcome. Constitution Park is located at 601 Carmen Drive, Camarillo, next to City Hall. After the dedication, those at the ceremony are invited to enjoy refreshments in the park.
