Studio Channel Islands Art Center "Arts Alive" Event on May 30-31 in Camarillo

Studio Channel Islands Art Center is thrilled to announce that its annual Arts Alive – West Coast Art Experience has been extended to a two-day event on Saturday, May 30 from 12-7 and Sunday, May 31 from 10-4.  Admission is FREE.  There will be activities for all age groups, so bring your family members and friends and join the fun. Studio Channel Islands Art Center and Blackboard Gallery are located at 2222 Ventura Boulevard in Old Town Camarillo.

Arts Alive had an amazing inaugural even last year. Arts Alive 2015 will feature more than 100 artists, entertainers and art organizations from Ventura County who will showcase their talents and programs throughout our campus.

The Blackboard Gallery will feature Donna Granata’s story-telling portraits of renowned visual artists and Bob Shanahan will exhibit an extraordinary selection of rock music photographs. The Art Education Center will feature an exhibit by students and teachers from Adolfo Camarillo and Rio Mesa High Schools.

Around campus, exciting performances by Cal Lutheran University’s Kingsmen Shakespeare Company, the Dragon Knights Stilt Theatre, and the Conejo Players Theatre will provide entertainment.  A number of art demonstrations will also be conducted throughout the event. Music lovers will enjoy the performances by the Fine Art Jazz Group from Malibu, Ignition – a band from Camarillo, Bryan McCann and the JazzHeads and The Teardrop Garage Band.

Kids will be invited to enter a chalk painting contest, have their faces artistically painted in a special booth and work off energy in the jolly jumper.

Food and drinks will be provided by various food trucks including Scratch (5/30), Cousins Main Lobster (5/30), Tokyo Doggie Style (5/31) as well as Desserts To Die For and the Perk U Later.  A Wine Patio and Beer Garden by Island Brewing Company will be on campus to provide liquid refreshments.
