Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks will honor special traditions during the holiday season including Santa Claus’ spectacular arrival from the sky, Jewish tradition Menorah lighting Hanukkah events, community caroling, Light Show, Holiday Jazz Concerts and more. The holiday celebration begins on Friday, November 23 at the 12 – 3 p.m. Jingle Bell Jump. Precisely at noon families can join Mrs. Claus and his elves to welcome Santa as he parachutes from an airplane for a holiday landing at Janss Marketplace. The public is encouraged to arrive early to get a good viewing spot for Santa’s arrival.
Following Santa’s Arrival from the sky, he will join Mrs. Claus to ride the Janss Holiday Express Train to Santa’s Village, a Bavarian style snowy village located near Burlington. Guests at the event who present November 23, 2018 receipts from Janss stores get one free photo until 4 p.m. The three-hour Jingle Bell Jump event also features story telling and face painting with Mrs. Claus, kids craft activity, DJ music, prize drawings and rides on the Janss Holiday Express Train.
Santa’s Village will be open through Christmas Eve for photos with Santa, beginning at just $17.95 for a keepsake print. Get photos with Santa on November 23 from 4 – 6 p.m., from 12 noon – 8 p.m. on November 24 – 25, December 1 – 2 and December 8 – 9; from 1 – 8 p.m. on December 15 – 23 with final visits and photos with Santa on Christmas Eve, December 24 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Following the Jingle Bell Jump event, the Janss Holiday Express free train rides will continue each Saturday and Sunday, December 1 through December 23 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Board the train near Buca di Beppo.
Janss Marketplace is proud to host the tradition of holiday caroling by making donations and hosting community caroling groups. Girl Scouts, school and church choirs and singers from other organizations will walk through Janss Marketplace from December 1 – 10 to entertain holiday shoppers with Christmas carols.
The annual Hanukkah celebrations at Janss Marketplace draw hundreds of people, including non-Jewish attendees. Thousand Oaks Chabad Jewish Center will host the Chanukah Family Festival in the Regal Cinemas Court on Tuesday, December 4 from 5 – 7 p.m. The event will feature the first night of Hanukkah candle ceremony to illuminate the 18-foot giant Menorah, traditional music, dancing, free youth activities and foods, including Latkes.
Temple Etz Chaim will host the second night Menorah lighting ceremony on Wednesday, December 5 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. Attendees will also enjoy traditional music, dancing, free youth activities and foods, including Latkes.
Janss Marketplace will host a NEW four-night Holiday Jazz Concert series, nightly December 13 – 16 from 6 – 8 p.m. The free performances will accompany the amazing Holiday Lights 3D Spectacular show. Attendees will view the light show which transforms the Burlington Court at Janss Marketplace into a magical theater with animation elves, toy soldiers and other holiday icons that come to life with spectacular lights, followed by half hour concerts of live jazz ensembles. Complimentary hot cocoa will be served, while supplies last.
Viewing is perfect from anywhere near the Burlington Courtyard at Janss Marketplace as the Burlington storefront becomes the canvas for the colorful visual and musical production. The choreographed show features images, lights, and other amazing special effects.
