Pop-Up Arts & Music Festival in Thousand Oaks Over Three Weekends in June 2018

The City of Thousand Oaks and Thousand Oaks Alliance for the Arts will bring a Pop-Up Arts & Music Festival to Thousand Oaks over three weekends in June.

As the name suggests, the festival will feature “pop-up” public performances and activities at a variety of locations throughout Thousand Oaks. The primary goal of the festival is to provide residents and visitors with an opportunity to actively participate in and enjoy the arts in unexpected and distinctive locations throughout the community. These sites will include small neighborhood parks, historical sites, the California Lutheran University campus, and the Oaks Mall.

City Manager Andrew Powers states “The City is proud to be an arts hub for Thousand Oaks.  This summer’s Pop-Up series takes arts engagement to the next level by bringing cultural arts to our neighborhoods, our parks, and our businesses. Not only are we expanding arts in the community, we’re engaging with residents in new and exciting ways. That strengthens our community.”

The Festival will feature eight free events over three weekends from June 15-30, 2018. In partnership with local arts organizations, the festival will include local and regional artistic talent, in addition to nationally recognized performing artists.

“The Pop-Up Arts & Music Festival spotlights the diversity of our local arts community and provides an opportunity for residents to come together in shared cultural experiences. Although this year’s Festival consists of eight events spread over three weekends, within the next few years our goal is for the festival to grow to 30 cultural events over 30 days.” Barry McComb, Cultural Affairs Director.
