Oxnard Jazz Festival on Saturday, September 10th

Pets for Vets Ventura County Chapter (PFV-VCC) has been selected by the Oxnard Jazz Festival to be a recipient of the proceeds raised from the September 10th event.

Pets for Vets, a 501c3 national organization with 36 chapters located across the country, is dedicated to supporting veterans and providing a second chance for shelter pets by rescuing, training and pairing them with America's veterans who could benefit from a companion animal.  Many returning veterans suffer from physical and emotional injuries relating to their time in service, making it difficult to transition back to civilian life.  Medical studies have shown that companion animals significantly reduce stress, depression and anxiety.  The Pets for Vets Ventura County Chapter, an all-volunteer organization, serves veterans in the cities of Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks and Ventura.  Funds donated from this Festival will enable Pets for Vets Ventura County to make more matches for local veterans.

The Inaugural Oxnard Jazz Festival is a cultural music celebration offering a diverse mix of Jazz, Latin, Soul, Blues and R&B.  This premier experience includes music in an incredible outdoor setting complemented by scenic beaches, vendor booth shopping, cultural foods, and many other inviting attractions which make the festival a top event and destination to close out the summer.  Musical talent includes: Tom Browne, Nick Colionne, Coso Franklin, Jade Hendrix, Howard Hewett, Tom & Milo, O’Bryan, Quattrosound, Poncho Sanchez, Isaiah Venegas, and JW White.  For more information on the Festival: www.oxnardjazzfestival.com.

About Pets for Vets – Ventura County Chapter
A serendipitous melding of their two passions – veteran causes and animal rescue -- Mardu and Ron Lydick founded the Ventura County Chapter of Pets for Vets on May 1, 2014.  Longtime supporter of the Soldier’s Project and the Gary Sinise Foundation, as well as being involved with animal rescue for over 15 years, the Lydicks sought to build an organization that would provide a win-win way to give back to America’s troops who have given so much.  Pets for Vets Ventura County is based in Moorpark and serves veterans in the cities of Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks and Ventura.  For more information, visit www.ventura-ca.petsforvets.com.
