The Simi Valley Public Library is located at 2969 Tapo Canyon Road. The library is open 7 days a week, 10am to 8pm Monday through Thursday, 1pm to 5pm on Friday and Sunday and 10am to 5pm on Saturday. Kids' Programs

Join us the last Saturday of the month from 2:00 - 3:30 pm and explore a different aspect of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, or Mathematics! For ages 5- 12. Children under age 9 must attend with a person 12 years of age or older. 

September – Learn about the structural differences between salt and sugar under a microscope and how that affects texture and taste!

October – Learn about the science behind tendons, muscles, and ligaments by making robotic hands!

November – Learn about the science behind money by looking at bills under a microscope.

December - Learn about the force and motion by painting with magnets and gravity!

*No registration required. Admittance is free. Program dates and content subject to change.

10/11/2018 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM Rose Garden Patio Concert - A Phantom of the Night.  Halloween-themed songs performed by local teens and adults. Presented by It's A New Day.

11/8/2018 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM Community Room Concert - The Beatles and the Beach Boys.  Two of the greatest musical influences of modern music were keenly aware of each other and their "competition" created some of the greatest music of all time. Local talent will perform some of their classics. Presented by It's A New Day.

12/13/2018 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM Community Room Concert - Let's Rock With Jingle Bells!  Local talent will perform classic and contemporary winter holiday favorites. Presented by It's A New Day.

Family-friendly Space Fair to celebrate The Discovery Center's New Traveling Planetarium Program on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the Goebel Adult Center in Thousand Oaks from 1:30 to 4:30pm.

Get ready to blast off with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) familly-fun.

There are two types of tickets "General Admission Plus Planetarium Show" and "General Admission."

⭐️ Planetarium Shows will each be 20 minutes in length. Come inside our new inflatable dome and watch a stellar show with our astronomer.

3rd Annual Seaside Kids Club at Ventura Harbor Village on Thursdays, July 5 to August 9, 2018

The 3rd Annual Seaside Kids Club is back at Ventura Harbor Village, 1583 Spinnaker Drive, Ventura, every Thursday from July 5 – August 9, 2018 from 11 a.m. – noon on the waterfront!

Kids ages 4 -10 years old are encouraged to immerse themselves in new sea themed activities, entertainment and crafts.

Cost is only $3 per session OR
$12 for all 6 Sessions when you sign up to be a Kids Club Member!

Sign-in begins at 10:30 AM at the Kelp Corridor directly across from Coffee Dock and outside the Village Carousel & Arcade.

7/5: Red, White Sand & Blue Ocean: Take to the ocean and get kids to make their own ocean in a bottle, learn to put on a life vest with Captain Cooper from Ventura Boat Rentals, visit with Ventura Harbor Patrol, and receive a booklet on Water Safety.

7/12: Seals & Sea Lions Are Pinnipeds: Get up close and learn all about our pinnipeds in the Harbor and at the Islands from a Channel Islands National Park Ranger.  As part of this summertime afternoon of fun, decorate a sea horse to take home (craft sponsored by Lakeshore Learning).

7/19: Jellyfish Jam - All Things Squishy! Search for sea creatures in squishy sensory ocean water beads, attend a show and tell with Ventura Harbor’s Squid experts, and create your own jelly fish craft!

7/26: Yo Ho! Piratey Fun & Puppets Too! Witness a professional marionette pirate puppet show, visit with a mermaid and pirate, play in a pirate ship, walk the plank, and create a Mermaid or Pirate Puppet!

8/2: Fit & Fun in the Sun: Strike a pose at sea with themed yoga led by yoga guru Pam Griffin. As part of this fun filled afternoon, partake in an obstacle course & relay races, and make a shell mobile to hang in the sun!

8/9: Stay Salty! A Love of all Things Beachy! Get creative and make a beach in a bottle using shells/sand/glitter stickers, snap a picture with ocean selfie spots by chalk artist Randall Williams, and talk with sea-worthy salt water experts.

JPL Hosts "A Ticket to Explore" Public Event the Weekend of June 9-10, 2018 (SOLD OUT)

"A Ticket to Explore JPL” is a special weekend when JPL opens its doors to the public and displays all the ways they are  exploring the solar system and beyond. Advance tickets are required to this event on June 9-10, 2018 from 8:30 am to 4 pm.

Tickets are free, but limited, and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning April 7, 2018 starting at 9 a.m. at https://explore.jpl.nasa.gov. Maximum number of tickets per requestor is five and must be reserved for specific names.

At "Explore JPL," visitors will have the opportunity to see, among other things, a life-sized model of InSight -- the next mission to Mars, scheduled to launch in May -- and Mars rovers, plus JPL's machine shop, where precise parts are made for spacecraft. This event coincides with the 60thanniversary of NASA. The agency was created in 1958.

Although children under two do not require a ticket, experiences at the event are not intended for very young guests.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley Family Fun Run 2K Mud Dash on Sat, April 15th

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley invite youth to ‘get a little muddy’ at the Family Fun Run 2K Mud Dash on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Redwood Middle School, 233 W. Gainsborough Road, Thousand Oaks.  Check-in begins at 8 a.m. and the first wave of runners starts at 9 a.m.

The 2k course is designed for the entire family to participate and starts and finishes at the same point.  Participants will have fun as they loop in and out of tires, jump hay bales, climb mini-walls and, of course, get a little dirty!  Finisher medals and t-shirts will be provided to all participants.  An Easter Egg Hunt will also be part of the event beginning at 10:30 a.m.  Music will be provided by Oakheart County Music Festival.

The Family Fun Run is presented by Logix Federal Credit Union and Variety, The Children’s Charity.  The cost for early registration is $10 for 9-year-old and under & after-school members and $20 for 10-year-old and up.  Day-of-race entry is $15 for 9-year-old and under & after-school members and $30 for 10-year-old and up.

6th Annual Santa Monica Mountains Science Festival in Agoura on Saturday, April 25th

The 6th Annual Santa Monica Mountains Science Festival, sponsored by the National Park Service in partnership with the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, the Children's Nature Institute, Santa Monica Mountains Fund, UCLA LA Kretz Center for CA Conservation Science, and NatureBridge. will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 10 am to 4 pm at Paramount Ranch.

There are activities for people of all ages, including talks, hands-on demonstrations, nature walks, family activities, live animal displays, and a chance to meet and talk with the scientists. Food vendors will be on site.

Come out and explore the natural and cultural resources within the Santa Monica Mountains and learn about the scientific research that helps us all better understand and protect those resources!
