Art @ Adobe Unveils Solo Artist Series

The Agoura Hills Cultural Arts Council’s Art @ the Adobe program is launching a Solo Artist Series beginning in February. Local talent will be featured in individual shows in the Reyes Adobe Historical Site’s historic barn throughout the year. A local artisan will also be featured with a display of custom gift items for sale at each exhibit. The new program is designed to help support and promote the arts within the local community.

Fine artist and Agoura Hills resident Wes Van Dyke was selected to kick off the series with a showcase of his newest work, originals and prints. Opening reception is Friday, February 7, 2014, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Admission is free.

Haven Road is among the new works being exhibited by Wes Van Dyke at Agoura Hills new Solo Artist Series opening February 7 at the Reyes Adobe Historical Site.

A popular participant at the Reyes Adobe Days art gallery, the 28-year-old Van Dyke is a painter who translates his passion for the outdoors in detailed, realistic landscapes and seascapes created from acrylics and oils. His portfolio also includes black and white graphic portraits of celebrities and canines.

Van Dyke began to form a following in high school when teachers and students asked to purchase his work. At age 23, he was featured artist at the 2008 Malibu Art Festival and sold several paintings at his first official show. He still paints on the easel his grandfather, actor Dick Van Dyke, gave him when he was 12. His father, actor Barry Van Dyke, also helped him master his talent. Van Dyke’s art is now collected both nationally and internationally.

Featured artisan for the first Solo Artist Series is Devin Krista who will have on display custom, handmade jewelry, made from sterling silver and 14k gold. The opening reception is just one week prior to Valentine’s Day, providing an opportunity for finding one-of-a-kind gifts for a special someone. The exhibit will continue through the month during select hours. Part of the proceeds from all sales will help support the 2014 Teen Art Show.
