Here is the latest "City Watch" alert from Deputy Jim DeSoto of the Thousand Oaks Police Department. If you are interested in receiving these updates directly from him via email, click here for more information.
Crime Fighters: We attempt to provide the residents as much information to establish and maintain the best quality of lives for everyone. The Thousand Oaks Crime Prevention Bureau is not only responsible for the TO City e-mailings but we have started a just as important e-mailing for the businesses in our city. Residences and businesses have different concerns and information that is pertinent to each one varies. If you own a business or know someone who has a business and would like to join Thousand Oaks Business Watch, please go to website at www.toaks.org/government/depts/police/bw.asp or call Dennis Silva or me.
The city of Thousand Oaks and the Thousand Oaks Police Department have a mutual interest with our community in ensuring that our children reach their scholastic and personal growth potential. With our youth having several obstacles, bad influences, and distractions, raising children is not easy and problems do arise. In order to adhere to our convictions and commitments to our residents, Dennis and I will be offering a parent class to assist parents, guardians, and caretakers in nurturing and rearing their children. Any parent who has a difficult, stubborn, or obstinate child is welcomed. The class will meet once a week for ten weeks starting on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 6 pm. The classes will be held at the Thousand Oaks Police Station, 2101 East Olsen Road. We are excited to offer these sessions and truly wish to support and help parents with problematic children. Anyone interested is asked to contact Dennis or me. Books are required for the class and the books can be purchased at the following website: www.parentproject.com
We also coordinate Neighborhood Watch and attend meetings regularly. If you have an active Neighborhood Watch and would like us to speak to your community or if do not have a Neighborhood Watch but would like initiate one, please contact us. Because crime affects everyone from residents to the many different types of businesses and organizations, we also speak to church groups, social groups, and businesses. If you would like us to speak with your group or if you want crime information or tips to prevent crime, please call us, e-mails us, or please visit the Crime Prevention Bureau’s website at www.toaks.org/government/depts/police/parent_resources.asp
Keep fighting crime!
