This program is designed to target unincorporated neighborhoods in the area, such as Oak Park, Bell Canyon, Lynn Ranch, Casa Conejo and Lake Sherwood. If you would like these updates directly from him via email, click here for more information.

Hello and Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a good holiday and a safe New Year.  Here is to a prosperous 2011!

I would also like to mention that we have sworn in our new Sheriff, Geoff Dean, and his two Assistant Sheriffs, Gary Pentis and John Crombach.  Let us congratulate them and wish them well with the new administration.

Now that the holidays are past us, do not let that be a reason to put our guards down and be less vigilant in our efforts to stop crime.  The days are already beginning to get longer, giving us more daylight.  That gives us a better chance of observing illegal activity and giving the police a call to alert us.

There are several new laws that took effect as of January 01, 2011.  One that I would like to share was Senate Bill 1317.   SB 1317 will fine parents of K-8 children $2,000 if their children miss 10 percent of the school year without a valid excuse. Parents can also go to jail for one year for the misdemeanor.  Lets make sure any students we know are getting to school.

A second new law, Senate Bill 1411 makes it a crime to “maliciously” impersonate someone online using a social network or website. A previous law outlawed maliciously impersonating someone, but the new law brings the law up to date with social networks. “SB 1411 makes it unlawful to knowingly and without consent credibly impersonate another person through or on an Internet Web site or by other electronic

Hello to all!  Fall is in full swing, bringing us closer to the holiday season. With Daylight Savings Time ending, it gets dark much earlier now. Be cautious while you are out walking, running, or driving. Also, as the holidays near, please be alert to vehicle burglars and other types of crimes of opportunity.

While out shopping, do not leave your purchases and other personal property unattended.  Be mindful of returning to your vehicle to put purchases in your vehicle as you continue to shop.  Criminals will watch and seize the moment to break into your car if you have left items in plain view or even once they have witnessed you place a large purchase in the trunk.

A common crime trend lately has been for suspects to enter homes that are for sale and remove the appliances and any other items of interest.  This criminal behavior has also happened to homes that are in the process of foreclosure.  If you are aware of a house in your neighborhood that is for sale and the
