The Ventura County Chapter of SCORE, a non-profit (501c) organization was founded in 1971, making it 40 years old this year! SCORE, Counselors to America's Small Business, was founded as an organization in 1964 and Ventura County is SCORE Chapter #255 and there are currently 389 chapters across the country.
The acronym SCORE stands for Service Corps of Retired Executives. SCORE Ventura County counselors are indeed a very active group of roughly 40 volunteers who are retired successful business owners and managers who enjoy sharing their experience and knowledge with both established and potential business owners throughout Ventura County and Malibu.
SCORE Ventura County provides FREE individualized counseling in partnership with Chamber of Commerce offices in Camarillo, Malibu, Moorpark, Oxnard, Simi Valley, Greater Ventura County and Oxnard. Appointments can be made online at www.scoreventura.org/free_counseling.html.
SCORE Ventura County also provides workshops, some free and most for a small charge, for local entrepreneurs. Visit this link for upcoming events www.scoreventura.org/attend_workshops.html.
I discovered on their website that the owners of Side Street Cafe in Newbury Park, one of our favorite local restaurants, received help from SCORE Ventura County!
