Altered Book Workshop

10/19, 11/2 and 11/16 Wednesdays @ 6pm

Repurpose an old book into a new piece of art. Bring an old book and your imagination. Local artist Ron Smith will be leading this workshop. Some materials will be supplied but feel free to bring special items for your altered book.


10/19, 10/26, 11/9, 11/23 Wednesdays @ 6:30pm

This poetry performance and writing workshop with an open mic is geared towards high school and college students but all are welcome. Specific emphasis is on SLAM Poetry. Presented by Phil Taggart and Aaron Gardner.

A Matter of Balance

Ventura County Area Agency on Aging

Author Talk - Robin Hutton

11/4 Friday @ 12:00pm

Please join us for a presentation by Robin Hutton, author of Sgt. Reckless: America's War Horse. Even though she had four legs and a tail, Sgt. Reckless was a Korean War hero and a combat marine. As late as 1997, she was recognized by Life Magazine as the greatest war horse in American History!

Spanish Conversation Group

Are you learning Spanish but need some practice speaking? Join this informal group to chat and practice your Español! Bring your own coffee     

Adult Coloring Book Break

10/19, 10/26 and 11/2, 9, 16, 23, & 30  Wednesdays @ 12-2pm

Join us in the library for some stress relieving coloring. Coloring sheets and pencils provided. Available from 12pm to 2pm so stop by for a minute or ten!    

Library LAB Open Workshop

10/19, & 26 and 11/2, 9, 16, 23, & 30 Wednesdays @ 4:30-6:30pm   Come by the library on Wednesday evenings to learn more about our 3D printer and laser cutter or to use them yourself! Ask the library staff about what you need to bring to print or engrave an item of your own, or just drop in to see what we’re up to in our library makerspace.

Poetry Open Mic Night

10/13, 20, & 27 and 11/3, 10, & 17 Thursdays @ 7:30-9pm

On these Thursday nights, come join this group of writers as they meet in the Topping Room to share their work. Locals gather to play the ukulele on the first and third Monday of the month.

Spontaneous Chess

Calling all chess players! Keep your skills sharp with this one-hour, drop-in session of free play. Boards will be set up and ready to go. Bring your best moves!

Ukulele Jam Session

Locals gather to play the ukulele on the first and third Monday of the month.

Tuesdays & Wednesdays @ 10:30am   A great way to introduce your child to early literacy and the library. Join us every week for stories, poems, music, movement, a simple craft, and fun!

Lego Play 10/25 and 11/8 & 2  Tuesday @ 3pm @10am  Build, Learn, and Play! Bring your imagination and experiment with creative designs. Children of all ages welcome!

Stuffed Animal Sleepover

Drop off your stuffed animal at the library for a sleepover at the library. Your stuffed friends will have an adventure of a lifetime!

Experiment with different types of fruit to control the melody and compose unique songs using the Makey Makey system!

Robot Invasion

11/16 Wednesday @ 4:30-6:30pm

Join the Youth and Makerspace Librarians at this robotics petting zoo! Come and see the robots and other gadgets the library has to offer and make a brush bot pet of your own to take home! This is in partnership with the Library LAB (the Makerspace) and the Maker Mentors.
