3rd Annual Ventura Eco-Extreme Mud Challenge on Saturday, April 25th

The 3rd Annual Ventura Eco Xtreme Mud Challenge presented by the Ventura Police Officers Association is planned for Saturday, April 25th starting at 10:30 am. The goal of this event is to create a fun and challenging adventure while raising money for the Dee Dowell Foundation.

The course, approximately 3 miles of obstacles, steep hills, and mud, will take place in downtown Ventura just above Grant Park at the training grounds for the Ventura Police Department. This location will provide exceptional views of the city and ocean in a unique and natural environment. The course terrain is primarily on trails and fire roads with extreme hills, killer steps, professionally built obstacles and several places where you will get extremely muddy. You will get wet and you will get muddy. Be sure to bring towels and a change of clothing. This event is certain to test both your physical strength and mental toughness!

The Kids 1K is for kids 14 & under and features many of the same obstacles found in the full 5K mud challenge such as the mud pit bottle neck, cargo net climb, and the traverse of death. All registered kids who finish will receive a prize.

Sign up for the 5th Annual Mom's Day Run at Ventura State Beach on Sunday, May 10th, starting at 8am. This is a "No Frills" run; there are no timing chips, no goody bags or medals. We are raising money for Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome (VHL) cancer awareness.

2015 Ventura Earth Day Eco Fest on Saturday, April 25th

The Ventura Earth Day Eco Fest brings fun, live entertainment, children’s activities, exhibitors, and education to Promenade Park in Ventura on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 10am to 5pm. Each year this successful community event is attended by over 5000 people and 80 exhibitors. Celebrate our environment at a beautiful beachfront park. Visit www.venturaearthday.org for details.

The event is coordinated by the Ventura Charter School of Arts and Global Education (VCS). VCS is a tuition-free public school, organized as a public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, serving 350 students from Kindergarten through Eighth grade. Our school’s progressive, high-quality, student-centered educational program expands educational choices for parents and their children in the public school system, supports a nurturing community of learners, and improves student achievement.

All net proceeds from the Earth Day Eco Fest fund Ventura Charter School’s enrichment programs for students ages K through 8th grade.

Cottontail Day 2015 at Ventura Harbor Village on Saturday, March 28th

Hop on over to Ventura Harbor Village, Saturday, March 28th from 10 AM - 3 PM for Cottontail Day at the Ventura Harbor Village Main Lawn. Cottontail Day is a family fun community event featuring egg hunts, petting zoo, kid’s crafts, entertainment and more!

The Cottontail Bunny can be spotted hopping around giving children a chance to take a photo or grab a hug. For children ages 1 – 7 bring your baskets and join in the $2 Egg Hunt held every 30 minutes (weather permitting) from 11 AM – 2 PM (free coloring book, while supplies last).

Other activities (pricing varies) includes face painting, arts and crafts, pony rides, animal petting zoo, scavenger village, vendors, entertainment and more.

53rd Annual Ventura Gem Show at Ventura County Fairgrounds on March 7-8, 2015

Ventura Gem & Mineral Society, Inc. presents The Ventura Gem Show its 53rd Annual Gem, Mineral, Lapidary & Fossil Show at Seaside Park, Ventura County Fairgrounds. March 7th (10 am to 5 pm) and March 8th (10 am to 4 pm).

Gems, minerals, rocks, fossils, jewelry, exhibits, displays, dems, prizes, dealers, silent auction, kids' activities, FREE admission (parking at Seaside Park is $5).  More information at www.vgms.org.

These are great family friendly shows. Event hosts love sharing their knowledge with attendees.  Good, old fashioned fun, with typically dozens and dozens of displays, information, demonstrations, etc.  Highly recommended!

3rd Annual Seaside Half Marathon, 5K, 10K in Ventura on Sunday, February 22nd

The 3rd Annual Seaside Half Marathon, 5K and 10K is planned for Sunday, February 22, 2015 along the Ventura coastline and the historic Old Rincon Highway.

Start and finish at Ventura Promenade park along the beautiful oceanfront boardwalk. It then will travel along the Ventura bike path to the Historic Old Rincon Highway along the Ventura coastline.  Miles of ocean views will keep you in awe as you stroll to the turn around point and back to the start/finish line.  Aid stations every 1.5 miles. Half marathon starts at 8 a.m. Other races start at 8:15 a.m.

Community Health Fair and 5K Walk/Run in Ventura on Monday, Feb 16th

A Community Health Fair and 5K Walk/Run takes place at Ventura Community Park, 901 S. Kimball, Ventura on Presidents’ Day Monday, February 16th. Race begins at 10:30am and event takes place from 10am to 2pm. Presented by the UFCW Local 770 Icaza Foundation. $30 to register. Proceeds benefit leukemia and charitable assistance in local communities. Event will also include a health fair, food and drinks, health care providers, raffles, live music and more. 3rd Annual Ventura Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K on Sunday, September 13th

The 3rd Annual Ventura Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K are planned for Sunday, September 13th. This is a flat and fast course.nFor more information and to register, visit www.venturamarathon.com

Additional events planned for Saturday, September 12th include Kids Sand Runs and 100, 62 and 35 Mile Bike Rides.

The event is managed by Vendurance Sports, a Ventura County-based running club and event management company aiming to bring high-quality, well-organized and affordable events to the region.

Last year there were 880 finishers in the marathon and over 1,600 in the half marathon.

3rd Annual Surfers Point Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K/10K in Ventura on Nov 15th

The 3rd Annual Surfers Point Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K and 10K are planned for Sunday, November 15th at Promenade Park, 450 East Harbor Boulevard, Ventura (corner of Figueroa/Shoreline Dr at the beachfront park). Race starts times are: Full marathon 7:00am, half marathon 7:15 am and 5k/10k - 7:30am. Two loop full marathon course with start/finish at Promenade Park. Runners will enjoy Ventura oceanfront boardwalk, historic Old Rincon Hwy and the gentle sloping Visa Del Mar ridge with incredible views that make every step worth the effort along the way.  Very flat course.
