Summer Block Party and Street Fair at Malibu Country Mart on Sunday, August 11th

The sparkling waves of the Pacific and the sea-scented air gives Malibu an endless summer appeal, and the Malibu Country Mart, Southern California’s premier lifestyle center, celebrates its favorite season with a Summer Block Party. The free, family-friendly street fair starts at 2:00 p.m. on August 11 and will feature an afternoon of live music, activity booths, and an assortment of nostalgic treats.  The event will culminate with the last film screening from the Mart’s Summer Movie Series.

The community event will transform the Malibu Country Mart into a festive street fair, certain to dazzle shoppers, Malibu locals and families with a variety of free entertainment stations throughout the property. Activities include a Rony’s Photo Booth, tarot card readings by Cathy Crystal, caricature portraits, and airbrush and henna tattoos. Fun activities for the younger set include a petting zoo, balloon art, and face painting.  Multiple food vendors will be positioned around the Mart and will offer complimentary carnival treats such as cotton candy, popcorn, funnel cakes, churros, sno cones, candy apples, and ice cream. Music will be provided by Noirfancy and a live steel drum trio.

Bringing the Mart’s Summer Movie Series to a close, the Block Party will end with the screening of its final family-friendly film, The Goonies. The movie will be projected onto a giant outdoor screen starting at 8:15 p.m., or about 15 minutes after sundown, near the children’s playground on the lawn. Guests are encouraged to bring their beach blankets and picnic baskets. Enjoy family-friendly films under the stars at California’s premier luxury retail center from June through August 

Malibu Country Mart, Southern California’s premier lifestyle center, encourages families, shoppers, Malibu locals and movie fans to grab their beach blankets and picnic baskets and join the fun at the first annual Summer Movie Series. One Sunday each month in June, July and August, the Mart will entertain audiences of all ages by screening a family-friendly movie outdoors on the lawn, and under the stars.

Join the Mart to watch fun, family movies projected onto a giant outdoor screen.  Movies will start at approximately 8:15 p.m., or about 15 minutes after sundown. The lineup:

Many of the Malibu County Mart’s restaurants including Howdy’s Taqueria, John’s Garden, and  Malibu Mutt’s Grill will stay open late to provide guests with a variety of take-away dining options and snacks to enjoy during the movie. In addition, Taverna Tony’s and Tra di Noi will also be open.

The course offers inspirational vistas of untamed terrain and sweeping ocean views. The challenging trail weaves through the mountains on single track and fire roads.

I, Conejo Joe, have run this 25K a number of times and each time I shake my head at how sore I am the next day...yet I go back for more! Brutal but rewarding!

5th Annual Malibu Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday, November 10th

The 5th Annual Malibu International Marathon and Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, November 10th, showcasing idyllic scenery and unlocking an exciting new challenge.

Marathoners will run 26.2 miles starting near the Camarillo Airport and ending at Zuma Beach in Malibu. The Half Marathon begins near Thornhill Broome Beach and ends at Zuma Beach.

Marathoners will enjoy a fast first half in the flat farm lands of Ventura County with views of the Santa Monica Mountains looming to the east. At mile 10, athletes will run through the “keyway to the coast,” a rock passageway to the Pacific Ocean. The remainder of the course is along the legendary Pacific Coast Highway with breathtaking views of the great Pacific and dozens of Malibu mansions. The finish line is at the famous Zuma Beach, where athletes are welcome to run straight into the refreshing ocean.

I've run the race several times...challenging but breathtaking and fun!
