New West Symphony Presents Famed Drummer Stewart Copeland May 12, 13 and 14

The New West Symphony and Stewart Copeland, famed drummer of The Police, will team up to present the West Coast Premiere of Copeland’s Tyrant’s Crush in concert May 12, 13 and 14. The Symphony’s season finale performances, conducted by music director Marcelo Lehninger, will also include Johann Strauss’ sparkling Overture to Die Fledermaus and Richard Strauss’ dramatic Suite from Der Rosenkavalier.

Stewart Copeland, who has spent three decades in the forefront of contemporary music as a rock star, acclaimed film score writer, and composer, will be the featured guest soloist on a program that will highlight the Symphony’s percussion section. In keeping with the percussive theme of the evening the Thousand Oaks High School Drumline will perform on the patio of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza from 7:30-7:50 pm on May 14.
