Making Strides is a noncompetitive 5K walk supporting the American Cancer Society’s unique mission to help people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early. This community-based fundraiser also serves as a way for the Ventura County community to become aware of ways in which they can play a role to help make finding a cure for cancer the highest priority for lawmakers. As the country wrestles with how to improve health care in America, the American Cancer Society’s aggressive public awareness campaign, Access to Care, seeks to provide access to health care for all Americans, including those who are uninsured and underinsured. Money raised provides patients free access to programs such as Look Good Feel Better, cancer prevention studies, 24-hour support and Road to Recovery.
