White Rabbit Fusion Cafe Opened in Oxnard on June 23rd; Iron Horse Bar & Grill To Re-open Soon in Ventura

White Rabbit Fusion Cafe opened its doors at 221 W. 5th Street in Downtown Oxnard, near the movie theaters, this past weekend. White Rabbit started out as a food truck in July 2010 and then opened its first location in Canoga Park in November 2010. Their menu is a mixture of traditional Filipino cuisine with Mexican-American flavors and includes tacos, burritos, beef dishes and other items (with veggie options). Looking at their menu I see a Filipino inspired spaghetti with sweet and spicy marinara fused with miniature saugages...I'm definitely trying that. Sounds really good! Visit www.whiterabbitcafela.com or call 805.483.4440 for more information.
Previously located in the White Rabbit spot was Iron Horse Bar & Grill, which relocated to the old Hudson's Bar & Grill location near the corner of Telephone and Main in Ventura.

My husband and I ate at the Ironhorse grill tonight, October 17, 2012. The lack of decor and dirty patio windows leads me to believe that they still are not quite ready to open. In the corner of the dining room, pictures and misc. decor were piled on one of the tables. Our waitress definitely needs more training, experience, or combination of both. My husband ordered the grilled fish tacos and was served fried fish. When he commented on the error to the waitress, she made up a story and said that this was the way the grilled fish was prepared and hurriedly walked away before he could respond further. I have never seen grilled fish breaded and deep fried! A few minutes later she came back and admitted that the fish was fried and not grilled. My husband ate the tacos as served, enjoyed them, but did not like being lied to. My cheeseburger, chips, and deep fried pickles were delicious but I felt uncomfortable the whole time we were there. It felt as though we had stopped by to visit friends after we had been invited but they were not ready to entertain us! There are so many excellent dining choices in Ventura that I doubt we will return anytime soon. I wish them luck, however. The customer service and ambiance needs to improve for them to succeed in this industry.
