Jack's Deli in Westlake Village Closed Its Doors Yesterday
Monday, November 21, 2011 at 08:59PM Jack's Deli in Westlake Village closed its doors yesterday, Sunday, November 20th. It has been a Westlake Village mainstay since opening its doors in 1977. Though in recent years I didn't eat there often due to the location of my day job, I frequented Jack's for a number of years and always enjoyed the food there. Jack's joins Roxy's Deli as an alumnus in the Conejo Valley ex-Restaurant Club. Both will be missed.

Oh my gosh!
This saddens me to such an extent I'm actually emotional over the matter. I'd been going there since I was a little kid. Some amazing memories were made there over the course of almost 30 years. Literally Westlake Village can't be the same. I was always afraid this day would come, I literally feel like I lost a friend.
Ditto for the previous comment. I'm speechless, this is soooooo sad. I moved away and I was afraid this would happen while I was gone, and I wouldn't have the chance to see it again.
But, but I want MY BAKED APPLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the wonderful people who stayed open in 1994's after the earthquake and made sure we were all served good food, and made us feel like everything was ok. !
A message to the greedy landlord ... "What goes around, comes around. You'll get yours someday." Jack's was the #1 draw for the Westlake Plaza during the day. I drove through the Plaza this beautiful Saturday morning and parking was ABUNDANT, becasue ther is no Jack's. I'm sure the other small business owners are cursing you.
This is a HUGE loss to our community. I have been eating at Jack's for almost 20 years and have had wonderful memories with family and friends. What a shame. Many thanks to the wonderful staff throughout the years. Jack's Deli was a great place to hang out and experience really good food, served in a friendly, cozy atmosphere. To say you will be missed is an understatement!
I was around when the original restaurant was opened... helped put in the ceiling fans, the metal ceiling, and was part of the event that named the restaurant! It came from the casual use of the name Jack to mean a lot of things... you dont know JACK, Hey Jack (for any stranger) and JACK as money. Now I am 70 years old, but I feel like 30 again when I think of it.
Thanks for your input, Tim. Great to hear about the history. And if you have any photos of the original Jacks you'd like to share, please don't hesitate to contact us!
