Permalink Free Monthly Jewish Content Books from the PJ Library
Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 08:33PM
Thanks to a generous group of Jewish Federation donors and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, Valley families with children aged six months to five years may sign up to receive a monthly, age-appropriate Jewish-themed books delivered right to their homes at absolutely no cost and no strings attached. Beginning immediately, the PJ Library’s acclaimed Jewish book-gifting program is available in the five valley region served by The Jewish Federation Valley Alliance, including the Antelope, Conejo, San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Simi Valleys.
The Federation became involved in the PJ Library because research indicates that Jewish experiences in the first five years establish the basis of children’s sense of self. Through the PJ Library, parents are able to carve out special time to explore and appreciate their Jewish roots with their young children in the comfort of their own homes.
“What an amazing thing. Parents can sign up and get books once a month for free just because they have a Jewish child,” said Carol Koransky, executive director of The Jewish Federation Valley Alliance. “This isn’t a gimmick or a book club, this is something that the community is fully sponsoring, and we are thrilled to be able to offer this positive way to introduce Judaism into young lives.”
The PJ Library is a program of The Jewish Federation Valley Alliance. The PJ Library is generously funded by: The Samuel and Helene Soref Foundation, Rita and Steve Emerson, Janine and Peter Lowy, The Marcia Israel Fund, The Simms-Mann Family Foundation, as well as The Harold Grinspoon Foundation.
