Kids Club at The Lakes in Thousand Oaks

The Kids Club at The Lakes meets every Wednesday of the month at 11 a.m. Call 805.497.9861 for more information. Events are outdoors; rain generally cancels events but call first.

Events vary from puppet shows to storytellers to musicians, petting zoos, arts and crafts, etc. for preschoolers and their parents. These are outdoor events and are weather permitting. Contact The Lakes for more information at 805.497.9861 or www.shoplakes.com.

In addition to the kids club, The Lakes has a small playground area that is geared toward the younger kids, an expanse of grass and 2 beautiful lakes, waterfall, fountain, etc. This is a nice park-like setting that makes you forget the fact that you are look ing straight out at Thousand Oaks Boulevard.

One more bonus: The Lakes is next door to the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, which has an outdoor courtyard with trees and paths that are fun for the kids to explore.

The new LazerTag Extreme at 591-A Country Club Drive, Simi Valley in the Wood Ranch Shopping Center is anticipated to open on June 15, 2013 (the Camarillo location closed 3/18/12). This brand new facility will have a fully customized 5,000+ sq ft multi-level interactive arena, brand new laser tag equipment (I've been told much lighter than the equipment at the old location), a new arcade with redemption games, great food and the only laser maze in the area. Simi Valley Patriots Football and Cheer is for kids ages 6 to 14, including the following age divisions: Gremlin (ages 6-7, 45 lb to 100 lb regular season weight range/limit), Pee Wee (ages 8-9, 45-115 lb weight range), Bantam (ages 10-11, 75-130 lb weight range), Midget (ages 11-12, 95-145 lb range), Junior (12-13, 105-160 lb range) and Senior (age 13-14, 190 lbs maximum). Weight limits increase for playoffs. Weight limits of course do not apply to cheerleading.
