Gold Coast Fencing Club in Ventura

Gold Coast Fencing, located at 3007 Bunsen Avenue, Suite F in Ventura, offers group and private lessons for children and adults of all ages and skill levels. From the GCF website:

"Fencing is a sport that has evolved from the historical tradition of dueling. As in dueling, people attempt to score points using a sword. Using cunning and strategy, fencers attempt to outwit their opponent with skill, techniques, and tactics they have learned. Fencing is often called "physical chess".  Fencing is also just a fun sport. A sport that provides cardiovascular exercise, tones muscle, improves coordination and quickens the wits. Whether for recreation or on the competitive level, fencing is gaining popularity as a great sport for fun and fitness."

The owner/instructor at GCF has many years of professional fencing and teaching experience. Visit www.goldcoastfencingcenter.com or call 805.766.5448 for more information.

Conejo Fencing Club

The Conejo Fencing Club, established in 1976, supports both recreational and competitive fencers. All levels of skill and all three weapons (foil, èpèe, and sabre) are taught and fenced at the club.  The club meets at the Conejo Community Center, 1175 Hendrix Avenue, Thousand Oaks.  Classes include the following:

The Introduction to Fencing class is the class you want to sign up for if you have not fenced before. This class provides background on the sport of fencing, teaches proper footwork basics, simple attacks and the basic parries.

The Beginning Fencing class is for students who have taken the Introduction to Fencing class, or who have fenced before at another club. This class covers more advanced footwork, strategy, attacks and parries.

The Fencing Club is for fencers who do not need/want lessons, but just want to fence.

For more information, visit www.ConejoFencing.com (hmmm, something tells me these guys might get visitors looking for fences on occasion....) or call 805.495.2738.

If you're "on the fence" (sorry, I just had to throw that in) about fencing, stop by and talk to these guys!
