The Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks is located between the 101 Freeway and Lynn Road at 350 West Hillcrest Avenue, running east to Wilbur Road. Originally constructed in 1978, the 1.3 million square foot mall was renovated in 1993 and again in 2008.
The 2008 remodel includes the addition of 235,000 additional square feet of retail space (134,000 square feet in 2008 "Phase I") and restructuring 330,000 square feet of existing space.
The 2008 renovation brought a new 2-story 138,000 sq ft Nordstrom's store (opened 9/5/08), a fountain-centered courtyard, the new state of the art 70,000 sq ft Muvico movie theater, new enlarged food court and kids' play area, a new 2-level parking lot with 1250 parking spaces and the possible addition of a fifth anchor store (current anchors include JC Penney, Macy's Women, Macy's Men/Home/Childrens and Nordstrom's) with adjoining parking structure.
I love the new multi-level parking structure! There are over 1,300 parking spaces in it, the spaces are large, there are digital signs that tell you how many spaces are available and there are pedestrian bridges between the structure and the mall.
More recent additions to the mall include restaurants Lazy Dog Cafe, Buddha's Belly, Red Robin, Red Lobster and Olive Garden. Check out the Local Buzz section of CVG at www.conejovalleyguide.com/local-buzz/category/new-restaurants for more on new restaurants around town.
